Market Bridge Challenge Waders Video 3: Sea Level Rise App Model Validation

04:22
Hi, thank you for checking out this video, one of three submitted by ‘The Waders’ as supplemental content for the Market Bridge Challenge 2016: Coastal Resilience Competition hosted by Gov2Com and Old Dominion University’s Strome Entrepreneurial Center. Link to full interactive Submission: http://arcg.is/1O67VZ4 This brief video segment highlights the utility of the Sea Level Rise App's GPS data points with a short Geographic Information Systems (GIS) methodology used to validate the StormSense model's advance 36-hour forecasted flood predictions during Fall 2015 tidal flooding in Norfolk in a series of videos using the App's interface and a visual depiction of the potential of time-aware raster layers using ArcGIS Online's free toolbox of utilities in representing the flood model's converted binary outputs translated to visual interactive flood animations shown with hourly time interval updates at 5 meter resolution for 6 separate sites in Norfolk, followed by some 3D Google Earth animations developed by Dr. David Forrest at VIMS from the model's iterative GIS raster map outputs to demonstrate the versatility of flood predictions by environment in Hampton Roads. Enjoy!

Oh Jasper Pee

02:41
A new featured single from the 2015 Loftis Christmas LP! Check back weekly for hot new holiday single tracks about Rebekah's cats! Song Lyrics: Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, Your tree skirt is unchanging. Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, Your tree skirt is unchanging. Your skirt is so bright and glittery, Even more so when wet with cat pee. Oh, Christmas tree skirt with cat paws that blurt: 'I marked your tree with my pee' Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, Your tree skirt is so smelly. Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, Your tree skirt is so smelly. Not only when we decorate, but even when he recreates. Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, His paws are wet with glitter. Oh, Christmas tree, so brightly gleans, How nimble are your branches. Oh, Christmas tree, so brightly gleans, How nimble are your branches. Each shining light, Each silver star, No cat around spreads cheer so far. Oh, Christmas tree, your branches lean, Under Jasper's shadow. Oh, Christmas cat, where are you at? Your presence isn't unnoticed. Oh, Christmas cat, where are you at? Your presence hasn't gone unnoticed. Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, Your tree skirt is unchanging. Oh, Christmas tree, with Jasper pee, Your tree skirt is unchanging. Your skirt is so bright and glittery, Even more so when wet with cat pee. Oh, Christmas tree skirt with cat paws that blurt: 'I marked your tree with my pee' ('Where'd you go, bud?')

Song Lyrics: Jas-par-ti-cus, Jas-par-ti-cus, Jas-par-ti-cus, Jas-par-ti-cus, Hark! How the clanks, sharp steel shanks, All seem to say, victory this day! Echoes through the halls, the coliseum calls: Jasper's chariot is near, Christmas is here! Clank, clank, clank, clank! The steel rang- With glorious clinks, Jasper's armor chinks. One seems to hear words instilling fear, From everywhere, filling the air. Hear the bells and drums, signal Christmas fun. Oh, how they pound, raising the sound: Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow, Victorious! Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas! Jas-par-ti-cus, Jas-par-ti-cus, Jas-par-ti-cus, Jas-par-ti-cus, They surely call: 'his enemies will fall!' Jasper's chariot is near, Christmas is here! Market Bridge Challenge Waders Video 2: TV Interview

02:26
Hi, thank you for checking out this video, one of three submitted by ‘The Waders’ as supplemental content for the Market Bridge Challenge 2016: Coastal Resilience Competition hosted by Gov2Com and Old Dominion University’s Strome Entrepreneurial Center. Link to full interactive Submission: http://arcg.is/1O67VZ4 This brief video segment highlights how better understanding of flood risk perception, information seeking behavior, and decision-making can inform the development of an app, such as the Sea Level Rise app currently available for free on the iOS and Android platforms as a crowd-sourcing flood monitoring app capable of not only data collection, but also flood risk messaging via cellular push notifications. These concepts are addressed in this TV interview video with App Developer and Director of Wetlands Watch, Skip Stiles, and 'Tidewater Wader' Derek Loftis, in the context of local alert messages that could be set based upon potentially preset locations set by users: (such as their home, or family members' homes, frequent parking locations, and known frequent flooding locations identified in the Sea Level Rise App's existing trouble tab noted in Part 1). These alerts could be manifest as: • Mobile text alerts • Mobile push notification alerts • Automated email alerts • Subscriber-based social media message alerts (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) • Subscriber-based automated phone call messaging systems, etc. Enjoy!

You're a mean one, Capt. Jasparrow

02:52
A new featured single from the 2016 Loftis Christmas LP! Check back weekly for hot new holiday single tracks about Rebekah's cats! Song lyrics performed to the tune of “You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch": You're a mean one, Capt. Jasper. You really are a heel. You're as cuddly as an urchin, You're as barnacled as a keel, Capt. Jasparrow! You're a swashbuckling cat with greasy black fur You're a monster, Capt. Jasper Your paddleboard has an empty hole. Your brain is full of bilge rats, You've got scurvy in your soul, Capt. Jasper! I wouldn't prod you with a Thirty-nine and a half foot sail. (Michael Bolton Interlude) You're a vile one, Capt. Jasper. You have termites in your peg leg, You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile, Capt. Jasparrow. Given the choice between the two of you, I'd take the seasick crocodile. (Michael Bolton Interlude) You're a foul one, Capt. Jasper. You're a scurvy scoundrel punk. Your heart is full of unwashed socks. Your soul is full of gunk, Capt. Jasparrow! The three best words that best describe you, Are as follows, and I quote" Sink! Plank! Sunk!

Here Comes Kaylee Claws

03:41
A new featured single from the 2015 Loftis Christmas LP! Check back weekly for hot new holiday single tracks about Rebekah's cats! Song Lyrics: Here comes Kaylee, Here comes Kaylee, Right down the Hallway. Her tongue sticks out and flounces about With a smile up on her face- Collar bells a'ringing, Derek's singing- Songs of seasonal cheer! Hush now baby, Kaylee's braying A song of purrfect delight! Here comes Kaylee, Here comes Kaylee, Right down Kaylee's way. Her fur fluffs out and sheds about, coughing hairballs in the den- Napping by the fire, her shed hair draws ire, From all who sweep the floor. Kaylee looks up, her tongue still aloft, As she warms your spirit tonight. (Here comes Kaylee, Here comes Kaylee, Here comes Kaylee, Here comes Kaylee) Here comes Kaylee, Here comes Kaylee, Right down the Hallway. Her tongue sticks out and flounces about, With a smile up on her face. Collar bells a'ringing, Derek's singin' Songs of seasonal cheer! Hush now baby, 'cause Kaylee's playing, A song of purrfect delight! [Instrumental Break] Her fur fluffs out and sheds about; Coughing hairballs in the den- Napping by the fire, her shed hair draws ire, From all who sweep the floor. Kaylee looks up, her tongue still aloft As she warms your heart tonight. Here comes Kaylee; now she's playing, Cause Kaylee Claws is purring tonight! Cause Kaylee Claws is purring tonight! (Quiet down that purring, cat, I'm singing here!) (Okay, fine then, just pout...)

Kaylee, It's Cold Outside

02:53
A new featured single from the 2016 Loftis Christmas LP! Check back weekly for hot new holiday single tracks about Rebekah's cats! Song lyrics performed to the tune of “Baby, It's Cold Outside": I really can't stay – Kaylee it's cold outside, I've got to escape - Kaylee it's scary outside. This morning has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in, So very nice - I'll hold your paws, they're just like ice. Rebekah will start to worry – Kitty cat, what's your hurry? Jasper will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar, So really I'd better scurry – Oh Kaylee, please don't hurry, well Maybe just a few steps more – Kaylee, don't you go out that door! Jasper might think - Kaylee, it's bad out there, Perhaps if I slink - I'll follow and give you a scare. Make my way outside- Your eyes glow in the moonlight, You'd never know I'm gone - I'd notice your tail bob as you go by. I ought to meow, meow, meow, meow – are you stuck in the closet now? At least I'll say that I cried – I really wish you wouldn't try, I really can't stay in – Kaylee, don't go out -- Ahh, but it's fun outside – C'mon baby... I simply must go – Kaylee there's foxes out there, The answer is no – Kaylee there's a skunk out there, But jasper escapes aloof – his claws cant grip a slate roof. I could hunt out there – you can't fall from a roof with flair. I know you will be suspicious –the fox will think you're delicious, I know you’ll be there at the door - I'll never understand the allure. So really I'd better scurry – Oh Kaylee, please don't hurry, well Maybe just a few steps more – Kaylee, don't you go out that door! I really can't stay – Kaylee it's cold outside, I've got to escape - Kaylee it's scary outside. This morning has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in, So very nice - I'll hold your paws, they're just like ice. Rebekah will start to worry – Kitty cat, what's your hurry? Jasper will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar, So really I'd better scurry – Oh Kaylee, please don't hurry. well Maybe just a few steps more – Kaylee, don't you go out that door! Kaylee (maybe) it's safe inside! Kaylee it's safe inside!

Up on the Cat Tower

02:04
A new featured single from the 2015 Loftis Christmas LP! Check back weekly for hot new holiday single tracks about Rebekah's cats! Song Lyrics: Up on the cat tower Kaylee Paws, As she sharpens her lack of claws. Down through the cubbie holes her swift tail flows, Til' her chubby butt gets stuck as he goes... Up, up, up-- she won't go, Up, up, up-- she won't go, Stuck in the cubbie hole she still pleads: 'Let me out or I'll make you bleed.' First freed is the left leg as she flails, Next is her right foot as she fails. She falls to the ground with little aplomb, Her fur gets matted as she splats like a bomb. Down, down, down-- the fat cat falls, Down, down, down-- my leg gets mauled, Down by the cat tower, Kaylee will beg, I retire to tourniquet my leg. Kaylee nudged my leg with apologetic eyes, I scooped her up and set her up high. With an approving smile she purrs with glee, From on high she dominates all she sees. Ho, ho, ho, Kaylee glows, Ho, ho, ho, the whole animal kingdom knows: Up on the cat tower, Kaylee purrs, As she dreams, she barely stirs!
