Email Marketing: 5 Tips for Writing an Effective Email Newsletter

03:58
Want people to open your e-newsletters? Wix.com offers tips, and techniques on how to do exactly that. Learn best practices for creating and sending out newsletters that your clients will love to read. Creating an engaged customer base is hard to do. And it starts with creating a successful newsletter. Even though social media is important, email is often overlooked. Learn how to best leverage your email marketing. Learn more at http://www.wixeducation.com Transcript: Newsletters offer a simple and affordable way to communicate with your network and strengthen your brand. In order to write great newsletters, you need to start with the end in mind. That means, you need to know what it is you want your readers to DO when they read your newsletter. This is your call to action and every newsletter needs one. Examples of a call to action can be to: · Use a coupon code · RSVP to an upcoming event · visit your website to read about new products Once you’ve established your call for action, try to think about how you can lead readers to it without sounding too pushy. Next step - The Subject Line Like you, your subscribers likely scan their email inbox looking to clean it out and delete unwanted mails. Don’t give them an excuse to delete your newsletter! When writing your subject line, use these rules of thumb: · People are more likely to open emails with a timely or enticing premise in the title. · Good subject lines are attention-grabbing and thought-provoking. “Our August Newsletter” won’t do the trick. · Your subject line should be between 5 and 7 words long · Don’t use all capital letters and be wary of using exclamation points. They can make your email look like spam and many email services will block it. What’s the best practice? Before you hit send, read the subject line to yourself and decide - would I open this email? Next, choose great images for your newsletter. They should be relevant to your business, interesting or beautiful to look at. (Or you can just use kittens or babies.) Pictures are a great way to catch your readers’ attention and encourage them to keep reading. When coupled with a catchy title, they can go a long way in increasing open rates. What’s the best practice? - Use compelling, original images in high resolution. Or kittens. Content is key to achieving your goal! Not sure how to produce good content? Here are a few tips: · Make sure your newsletters share either timely, educational or valuable content. Don’t write fluff just to fill the page. · Break your newsletter up into short paragraphs with headers. Long paragraphs can cause readers’ eyes to quickly glaze over. Get to the point. Write only as much as you need to get the message across. · Keep jargon out. Don’t try to show off; it’s not a term paper. Use a casual, but professional tone. Be friendly and informative. What’s the best practice? Fill your emails with interesting and relevant articles, tips, links to great websites or inspirational ideas. Vary the content in each of your newsletters to keep them fresh. Write content worth reading. Finally, when sending out your newsletter, remember to think about timing and frequency. Don’t exhaust your subscribers with constant emails. They’ll unsubscribe. On the other hand, if you promised a monthly newsletter chock full of tips or coupons, keep your promise and stick to a regular schedule. Send out newsletters in the morning, ideally on a work day. That way, they have the best chance of being read. Emails sent on Friday afternoon can easily get buried in your subscribers’ inboxes over the weekend. What’s the best practice? Send out your newsletter once a month or once a season on a Monday or Tuesday morning. Ready to get started? Classify Your Brand and Generic Keywords - Google Best Practices

02:42
Google AdWords is now Google Ads. Click here to learn more about our new advertising brand: blog.google/technology/ads/new-advertising-brands/ People can use either generic or brand keywords to find you. Review the differences between these types of keywords so that you can manage them more effectively in AdWords. Find out more at g.co/GoogleBP. 00:06 Hello the Internet, and welcome to yet another video in our ongoing series: Keywords to the Wise. Today we're talking about classifying your brand and generic words. We're going to talk about 3 key things today. But first, it's just the difference between generic and brand keywords. 00:18 So what is a generic keyword? Generic keywords tend to attract new customers to your business. You can reach folks looking to buy, but not necessarily from you. 00:28 They may not know that you offer this, or maybe they just forgot that you offer this specific product and this is a great opportunity for you to remind them about this fact. 00:35 They're looking for something and you can actually answer that even if they forgot about it temporarily. 00:39 On the other hand, brand keywords can connect you with returning customers. This shows an ad for searches that contain your brand name. 00:47 Now they may know your brand name from a variety of different sources. They may have heard of you from maybe a television ad, or they could've been searching for something that just happens to contain your brand name. 00:55 Or maybe they're just coming back to your site from that time. For whatever reason, there's just people that have heard of you before and are searching for you by name specifically. 01:03 Because of that, it's going to be about different traffic between brand and generic, and you're going to want to manage that traffic differently. 01:09 Something to keep in mind is that you might want to have actual different campaigns within AdWords to manage the generic and brand keywords. 01:17 Because budget and some other controls are set at the campaign level, you might want to manage your campaigns differently. 01:23 Generic and brand aren't going to have the same results expected of them, so you may want to manage them separately. 01:28 Additionally within generic, there might be different types of keywords, so think about what you want from a keyword and think about what its goals can be. 01:35 As an example, generic keywords might have a higher cost per sale that you're targeting within your account. 01:40 Because it's someone who's new, who hasn't been to your site before, you might value that customer differently, and might be willing to pay more to actually attract them and get them for the first time. 01:48 But brand keywords, you might be targeting a higher average position and impression share. 01:53 Because you know they want to find you specifically, you can control the messaging on top the Google results page, and just bring those people back right where you want them. 02:02 So when you're classifying your brand and generic keywords, know the difference between them. It's kind of important. 02:05 You'll also want to put those keywords into different campaign types so you can manage them separately and control budget separately, if you decide to do that. 02:13 And also set different goals for your branded and generic keywords. Even if you have differences within your generic keyword set, you want to be able to control that stuff differently. 02:19 Thanks for watching this video on "Keywords to the Wise." Hopefully you'll tune in to the rest to the other three. We got plenty of goodies for you. Thanks for watching! How to Create An Authority Engine (Personal Brand) | Dan Martell

05:48

So many founders that I meet aren’t shy to make that claim. And like them, perhaps you’ve also paid your dues, put in the time, and built something awesome. But unless the market actually PERCEIVES you as an authority on that topic, all that hard-earned domain expertise isn’t providing you leverage. That’s just the truth. Cause here’s the thing... “Thought leadership” doesn’t stem from those silent moments spent reflecting over your latest insights. It comes from fearlessly holding up the proverbial microphone and sharing them with the world around you… (and then building an authority engine to amplify its sound). So if building that “microphone” has been a challenge for you (as it was for me)... let me introduce you to… The 3 Steps for Building a Powerful Authority Engine The first step (positioning) is by far the most natural but requires you to get over the mental hurdles of sharing your stuff publicly. But as you’ll learn in step #2 (3:45 of the video), you have so many amazing and emerging channels at your disposal, so even if you’re a little camera shy (or suffer from writer’s block)... … there’s ALWAYS going to be a way for you to get yourself out there in a powerful, authority-building way. And in 2016, there’s simply no excuse to not, at least, give it an honest shot. So If you haven’t already made that leap, I challenge you to do so today. The rewards are too good to ignore... (more press, interview opps, event invites, etc.). And your message too powerful to keep locked inside an Evernote folder. So share it often. Share it loud. And then drop me a message in the comments below letting me know what topics you plan to start taking more of a bold, authoritative stance on. To claiming your authority, - Dan P.S. Contrary to popular belief, I’m actually NOT particularly amazing at video (even though it's my medium of choice). As you’ll see in the first part of this clip, false starts and f*ck ups are all part of the gig… and as a leader with a message, sometimes you gotta just roll with it. P.S. Still suffering from imposter syndrome? Here’s a call-to-arms from the archives that will finally get you off the sidelines and hitting “”publish” on your game-changing ideas. http://www.danmartell.com/turnpro/ Don't forget to share this amazing entrepreneurial advice with your friends, so they can be inspired too: http://youtu.be/QzD_axrAb9E ===================== ABOUT DAN MARTELL ===================== “You can only keep what you give away.” That’s the mantra that’s shaped Dan Martell from a struggling 20-something business owner in the Canadian Maritimes (which is waaay out east) to a successful startup founder who’s raised more than $3 million in venture funding and exited not one... not two... but three tech businesses: Clarity.fm, Spheric and Flowtown. You can only keep what you give away. That philosophy has led Dan to invest in 33+ early stage startups such as Udemy, Intercom, Unbounce and Foodspotting. It’s also helped him shape the future of Hootsuite as an advisor to the social media tour de force. An activator, a tech geek, an adrenaline junkie and, yes, a romantic (ask his wife Renee), Dan has recently turned his attention to teaching startups a fundamental, little-discussed lesson that directly impacts their growth: how to scale. You’ll find not only incredible insights in every moment of every talk Dan gives - but also highly actionable takeaways that will propel your business forward. Because Dan gives freely of all that he knows. After all, you can only keep what you give away. Why You Must Have A Core Marketing Message

03:20
Visit http://nativeadvertisingsecrets.com/youtube to get my FREE Training Video, "17 Advanced Native Advertising Secrets Insiders Use to Get 248% ROI" Right Now! Why You Must Have A Core Marketing Message If you go out and look at a bunch of ads of different companies in any given industry, you'll see that all of these ads are filled with a bunch of generic statements and platitude, things like best, most value, highest quality, and the dreaded been in business since 1979. Because most companies use these same generic messages and platitudes in their ads, prospects cannot tell who provides the most value, and that's really what they're looking for. What happens is they get stuck into evaluating you on price alone, so that's why if you ever get a lot of people wanting to know immediately what your price is, it's because you're using these generic messages in your ads. A core marketing message is simply relaying to the market through your advertisement the unique value that you can provide to that person. For example, my business is the only advertising agency that I'm aware of that guarantees that you'll be profitable from the work that we do, or we'll work for free. Now, you see how that will uniquely position me in the market versus if I said we've been in business since 1979? It's a completely different ball game, and it allows the prospects to evaluate me on the value that I provide versus just my price alone. If you go out and take a look at what you're doing in your ads and then come up with a core marketing message that will speak to your prospects and tell them how you can uniquely provide value to them, you're going to be light years ahead of your competition, and you will crush them and make a lot more money. As always, you can watch all of my videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/JasonHornungAgency Subscribe to get the very latest in Online Advertising Secrets straight from our ongoing tests and case studies. http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=JasonHornungAgency

What is brand enrollment, and why is it so important for a B2B company?

02:23
Successful branding isn’t just something the marketing department does. If the messages a potential customer gets from the company’s advertising and marketing don’t match up with the messages he receives when he calls a salesperson or talks to an employee, which of the messages is he going to believe? This is why brand enrollment -- making sure employees across the board understand and internalize the brand message -- is so important, especially in a B2B industry with a long sales cycle. The People Powered Brand: A Blueprint for B2B Brand and Culture Transformation, written by 5MetaCom CEO Chris Wirthwein and 5MetaCom Senior VP of Global Marketing and Branding Strategy Joe Bannon, can help you build a brand in the B2B space and, more importantly, show you how to get employee buy-in and maintain the brand into a successful future. Brand vs Logo

01:19
Many individuals confound brand and logo. Brand doesn't generally have much to do with logo. I did like to clarify this with a case, on the off chance that you are some outsider looking down on earth, the brand would be humans and rivers, oceans, fun, sadness and everything that incorporates that. The logo would be Earth. Presently everyone has a logo and everybody can control there logo and almost make the logo they want, whether it's a decent one or not. In any case, not everybody truly has the branding that they need to have or not everybody can genuinely truly impart the brand message they need to. This is the point at which we become an integral factor. We take a look at your buyer, we take a look at your customer, we take a look at who you are and what you need to impart to them. We set up this together and the objective is to put that minor little bundle into that logo so when they take a look at this logo, they feel all of it. In any case, everything else that is made from you, from your website, your content, your video, your photography, they all need to sit on that very fine line and match identical. https://twelve12.com/

Using Video To Supplement Your Brand Style Guides

03:53
http://panopto.com/blog/how-to-build-a-brand-style-guide-your-people-will-actually-use/ For any organization in any market anywhere in the world, the first step to creating a brand guidebook your team will actually use is to assess what elements your team actually needs. Without question, your creative teams will find value in the full details provided in the now-traditional encyclopedic style book. Sharing that in-depth technical resource with the rest of your employees, however, is simply overkill. Branding is an exercise in simplifying the way your organization visually represents itself — the first step in successful branding is simplifying how you set brand expectations with your teams. 1 | Assess Your Brand’s Touchpoints — Where Do You Need To Be Consistent? The single most important job your brand has is to provide a consistent appearance for your customers and partners. Consistency is reassuring and affirming — it signals that they’ve found the right place, and are communicating with someone who can help. Your organization may have many touchpoints or only a few. No matter the total, these comprise the entire foundation of your brand. Consider carefully how you expect your employees to represent your organization at each. 2 | Determine The Absolute Minimum Your Team Needs To Know To Represent Your Brand This is where most brand guidebooks fail. Recognize that most employees don’t need to know the technical details or the philosophical rationale behind every brand decision — they just need the top-line essentials. In many organizations, that list of essential items will be simply how to get the correct logos, colors, and fonts for presentations and email communications. It may also include dress code and conversation expectations for those companies with a retail sales or on-site service model. 3 | Find A Way To Make Only Those Essentials Easy To Find, Learn, And Share Here is where a short video presentation can make all the difference. According to Forrester Research, employees are 75 percent more likely to watch a video than to read documents, emails or web articles. More engaging than text, video can make your message memorable, and helps you to highlight exactly what your people need to know. Moreover, video helps you create a valuable reference resource for your company. A quick recorded rundown of your brand standards is a tool that can be easily included in your onboarding programs, and also provides front line managers with a simple way to remind their teams to follow protocol. Best of all, for Panopto customers, your Panopto video library automatically indexes every word spoken and every word that appears onscreen in your recordings, so that any employee who needs to find a specific detail (like Hex color codes or the right font for web use) can quickly search across every video in your company archives and find exactly what they were searching for — and even instantly fast forward to the specific relevant moment.

HOW TO BRAND YOURSELF - 3 Simple Steps To Make a FULL TIME INCOME Online Branding Yourself

09:18
Learn How To Brand Yourself: http://GrowithNick.com Branding yourself is obviously the best way to build a following online, however a lot of people don’t know where to start or what category they want to create a brand in. By the end of this video you will know how to brand yourself, as well as develop a solid brand development strategy that will enable you to make a full time income online. STEP #1 TO BRANDING YOURSELF: - Find your niche: If you’re branding yourself on social media sites like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, LinkdIn, Pinterest, Instagram, or you have your own blog you need to identify who you’re speaking to. If you don’t have a target market you will fall into the category which is 99% of people who don’t know how to brand themselves. The best way to find your niche is to pick a category that interests you. What do you love to do? Do you like sports, music, food, travel, or business? Now, once you’ve picked your niche you want to pick a subcategory. For example: let’s say your niche is sports, you would want to obviously pick a sport to specialize in. Do you want to be known as the person who gives tips to become a better Basketball player, or would you be more suited to train people on their endurance for cross country? Lets say you want to specialize in business… what type of business? Real estate, Network Marketing, Franchising, or selling affiliate products online? After you’ve identified your niche and target market you can move on to step #2. STEP #2 TO BRANDING YOURSELF: - Help solve a problem: in order to make a full time income online you’re going to need to help your target market solve a specific problem that they have. You see, the more problems that you solve the more money that you will make. You can do this through Youtube videos, Twitter posts, Instagram, your blog, or even Periscope. So lets say you’re target market is Basketball players. What’s a big problem that they have? I’de guess it would be learning how to handle the ball better, jump higher, and move faster. So if you want to position yourself as a mentor in that field you could create a course that shows them the best workouts for improving in every one of those areas, and you could offer them a product to help them speed up their training. Now, lets say you’re in Network Marketing. Your target market is people who work 9 to 5’s. What’s a big problem they have? I’de say it would be not having enough money or time to go on vacation whenever they want. So you could create a training course showing them how you’ve been able to quit your job, travel the world, and make a full time income through Network Marketing. Then you would position your product/company as the vehicle to get where they want to be in their life. If you don’t have a result yet or you’re not making a full time income then you would want to team up with someone who is and follow exactly what they do. You can leverage someone’s results until you have your own. That’s exactly what I did and you can see how I brand myself here: http://GrowithNick.com STEP #3 TO BRANDING YOURSELF: - Build your list: After you identified your niche, and what problem they have, now you want to start building your list of subscribers so you can follow up with your leads to help them solve their problems and provide them with a solution, aka: your product/service. The best way to do this is by using a capture page service. Here is exactly what I use for mine: http://Growithnick.com This will allow you to gather their contact information to grow your database of people who are interested in what you have to offer. If you’re not gathering peoples information after they watch one of your Youtube videos or read one of your Twitter posts then it’s like catching fish without a net or bucket to put them in. You would just be releasing them back into the pond. So as simple as it sounds the 3 steps to creating a brand for yourself are, picking a niche market, helping them solve a specific problem, and then building your list of subscribers so you can follow up with them to sell your product or service.
