Fashion designing is quite a lucrative job and is in heavy demand these days. Whether it is Hollywood or Bollywood, fashion designers are very much needed for preparing bewitching and glamorous outfits for red carpet events, parties and other occasions that involve celebrities. The top countries for studying fashion designing include UK, Japan, United States of America, France and Italy. The fashion industry is very competitive. And in order to secure a good job, it is very important for a student to get enough training. He/she should be a creative person with exemplary artistic skills. Also a course in English, business, maths or sewing can be used as a proper foundation. If you are too ambitious, a simple degree might not suffice. Masters degree and certificate programmes are also available so that you can educate yourself enough to start a prosperous and bright career in fashion designing. There are several careers you can find in this field itself. Some include sketchers, cutters and pattern makers, sewers and fit technicians, head designers, specialty designs and of course the trend researchers. Other career opportunities you can explore in the field of fashion include fashion marketing, journalism, public relations, performing arts, photography, management and merchandising. To become a successful fashion designer, it is very important to get a diploma or degree at first. It might be easy to enrol yourself in a decent university, but it is often difficult to pay the course fees since it isnt inexpensive after all. However, there are a couple of big universities that offer scholarships to students who have talent and are keen enough to show some effort. India has also recognized fashion designing recently. Some of the best institutions that offer this course include National Institute of Fashion Technology (Delhi), Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology (Bangalore), Symbiosis Institute of Design (Pune), and National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad). A few international colleges are also offering certificate and diploma courses on fashion designing. Some of the bright institutions falling under this category are: • University of North Texas (United States of America) • Melbourne School of Fashion (Australia) • University of Westminster (United Kingdom) • Raffles Design Institute (Singapore) • Paris College of Art (France) • Ryerson University School of Fashion (Canada) Once you have graduated from fashion school, prepare a resume with all achievements enlisted in detail. Beirut's first free fashion school helps refugees
(20 Mar 2017) LEADIN Lebanon's first free fashion school is helping refugees and underprivileged youngsters develop their talents. Creative Space Beirut aims to expand the country's fashion industry beyond its usual elite circles. STORYLINE In this bright open space in Beirut a fashion student finalises the details of his latest design. Meanwhile, another carefully cuts into cream fabric for her next creation. They're both students at Creative Space Beirut (CBS), Lebanon's first free fashion school. The project targets underprivileged talent with the aim of expanding the country's fashion industry beyond its usual elite circles. "It is a three-year programme where we search for students across Lebanon who are very talented, very passionate, very dedicated but they can't afford to pursue an education in fashion design. So we give them the education completely for free," explains Founder of Creative Space Beirut, Sarah Hermez. "Essentially, what we believe in is free education and equal opportunity and that is what we are fighting for." The CSB initiative accepts three or four new students every year for the three-year fashion design programme, which provides training in pattern making, drawing, conceptual design, and textiles. In the six years since its inception, at least a dozen students have walked through CSB's doors from all across the country, including Palestinian refugee camps, Saida, Chouf, Tripoli and Bourj Hammoud. One of CSB's newest students is a 16-year-old Syrian refugee, who fled his hometown of Homs in 2011 to come to Lebanon. Amir al-Kassem has dreamed of being a fashion designer since he was five years old. "Here in Lebanon, I discovered that it was costly (to pursue fashion design), so I did an internet search and found Creative Space which caters to these talents and develops them for free. This was a big opportunity for me to fulfil my dream," al-Kassem explains. Students attend the school every day from Monday to Friday. CBS collaborates with different designers who come in to teach different courses. And at the end of the year designs such as these go from the hanger to exhibitions where they're sold. The money that is generated goes back into the school You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/youtube/59ca6ff92cada96ac4ee9d5065a8ade8 Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork
