What does BRAND EQUITY mean? BRAND EQUITY meaning - BRAND EQUITY definition - BRAND EQUITY explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Brand equity is a phrase used in the marketing industry which describes the value of having a well-known brand name, based on the idea that the owner of a well-known brand name can generate more money from products with that brand name than from products with a less well known name, as consumers believe that a product with a well-known name is better than products with less well-known names. Brand equity refers to the value of a brand. In the research literature, brand equity has been studied from two different perspectives: cognitive psychology and information economics. According to cognitive psychology, brand equity lies in consumer’s awareness of brand features and associations, which drive attribute perceptions. According to information economics, a strong brand name works as a credible signal of product quality for imperfectly informed buyers and generates price premiums as a form of return to branding investments. It has been empirically demonstrated that brand equity plays an important role in the determination of price structure and, in particular, firms are able to charge price premiums that derive from brand equity after controlling for observed product differentiation. Some marketing researchers have concluded that brands are one of the most valuable assets a company has, as brand equity is one of the factors which can increase the financial value of a brand to the brand owner, although not the only one. Elements that can be included in the valuation of brand equity include (but not limited to): changing market share, profit margins, consumer recognition of logos and other visual elements, brand language associations made by consumers, consumers' perceptions of quality and other relevant brand values. Consumers' knowledge about a brand also governs how manufacturers and advertisers market the brand. Brand equity is created through strategic investments in communication channels and market education and appreciates through economic growth in profit margins, market share, prestige value, and critical associations. Generally, these strategic investments appreciate over time to deliver a return on investment. This is directly related to marketing ROI. Brand equity can also appreciate without strategic direction. A Stockholm University study in 2011 documents the case of Jerusalem's city brand. The city organically developed a brand, which experienced tremendous brand equity appreciation over the course of centuries through non-strategic activities. A booming tourism industry in Jerusalem has been the most evident indicator of a strong ROI. While most brand equity research has taken place in consumer markets, the concept of brand equity is also important for understanding competitive dynamics and price structures of business-to-business markets. In industrial markets competition is often based on differences in product performance. It has been suggested however that firms may charge premiums that cannot be solely explained in terms of technological superiority and performance-related advantages. Such price premiums reflect the brand equity of reputable manufacturers. Brand equity is strategically crucial, but famously difficult to quantify. Many experts have developed tools to analyze this asset, but there is no agreed way to measure it. As one of the serial challenges that marketing professionals and academics find with the concept of brand equity, the disconnect between quantitative and qualitative equity values is difficult to reconcile. Quantitative brand equity includes numerical values such as profit margins and market share, but fails to capture qualitative elements such as prestige and associations of interest. Overall, most marketing practitioners take a more qualitative approach to brand equity because of this challenge. In a survey of nearly 200 senior marketing managers, only 26 percent responded that they found the "brand equity" metric very useful.

Image Keywords + Enhanced Brand Content Comparison Charts - Now Live for 3p Sellers on Amazon
The theme continues - What was once only available for 1p vendors comes over to the marketplace (3p sellers). The latest set of features came through Amazon's Enhanced Brand Content portal. The new Six Modules Are: 1. Comparison Chart 2. Single Image and Sidebar 3. Four Image Highlights 4. Single Image and Specs Detail 5. Single Image and Highlights and Image and 6. Light Text Overlay. AND!!!...Amazon now confirms that adding image keywords via ECB will "help your product appear in search". So awesome to hear the confirmation straight from them! ECB was already a great driver from a conversion standpoint. Doubling down on the confirmed search visibility makes these items a solid one-two punch for any brand. The bottle-neck for most brand is scaling of the creation ECB content. However, there are a few things which brads can do to get at least barebones ECB up. FIVE ECB TIPS: 1) Anything is better than nothing (within reason). No ECB on a listing is just missing out on conversion and search visibility. Progress not perfection! 2) Create content modules which can be reused for 75% of the products. Make them brand-specific rather than product based. 3) Use the other 25% of the page to sell the unique features and benefits of the specific product. 4) The more expensive the product, the more dialed in the ECB needs to be. Products which require a lot of research prior to purchase should be your top priority. 5) These will only get more Enhanced...I'd expect more interactive features coming to them including video. At some point the amount of care which goes into a website design could be on needed for a single product depending on how advanced Amazon wants to go. If you have awesome ECB examples comment below!

Gillette Advertising Case Study: Best Tactics to Brand a Product Line

With so many different products, how can they unify their brand message and convey a single clear point? In this three-minute emotional marketing lesson video, Graeme Newell tells the marketing case study of Gillette, and shows how they used emotional marketing to unify their entire advertising message. See how a great product brands use marketing focus to get rid of the advertising chatter and create a transcendent brand identity. Transcription text of the 3-Minute Emotional Marketing Lesson Video "Gillette Advertising Case Study: Best Tactics to Brand a Product Line" by Graeme Newell, emotional marketing researcher, emotional marketing speaker, customer loyalty researcher, and consultant at 602 Communications. Companies with large and varied product lines face a particularly tough marketing focus challenge. The Gillette advertising machine is a complex and multi-headed beast. The offer product brands ranging from razors to body wash, and everything in between. With that many different product brands, one might think it would be near impossible to keep marketing focus on how to brand a product properly -- but Gillette has done it, and done it very well. Today, a marketing case study on the Gillette advertising strategy, and how they manage to keep marketing focus steady with a wide range of product brands. Gillette Advertising There's no doubt about Gillette's advertising credentials, they brand a product very well, and have been doing so for a long time. At this current phase of their product brands, Gillette's best bet is not to recruit new buyers for their razors, but rather to set their marketing focus on getting current users to buy more blades. They brand a product by actually informing their users about why it's a better idea to throw out their old blades faster and buy new ones, not throwing some fancy advertising pitch at them. Another way to expand usage of their product brands is to get men to shave other parts of their bodies. This requires a marketing focus on teaching men how to do it. So in the end, with all of this teaching, how does Gillette advertising brand a product effectively? They do it by setting their marketing focus on the emotion that drives their customers, not the product itself. Brand a Product with a Passion Gillette advertising stays focused by not bothering with the actual physical properties of their product brands, but rather what they stand for. Gillette stands for confidence. When men shave in the morning with a Gillette razor, they're not just grooming -- they're preparing for success. If you're looking to brand a product across different groups, this is the best marketing focus to take. How Gillette Advertising can Brand a Product for All Men For this marketing case study we watched hours upon hours of how Gillette advertising brands a product, and we've come upon the secret. When they go about branding a product, they do so by showing sexy and powerful men engaging in the ritual of shaving. This invokes a powerful response -- it builds an association between the power and sex-appeal of the men in the ad with the ritual of shaving. To brand a product this way is to create ascendant product brands -- product brands that rise above their base function and fulfil something deeper. The greatest conclusion we reached in this marketing case study was that to brand a product upon a transcendent feeling or emotion was to create a truly powerful product brand. So to recap, in this marketing case study we found that: • Gillette advertising is a massive undertaking. They have varied product brands throughout their central function of grooming that includes razors, shaving cream, deodorant, body wash, and more. • To brand a product in such a varied product grouping, Gillette advertising sets its marketing focus not on the product features, but the driving emotions that power its product brands. • Gillette advertising takes the ritual of grooming and turns it into unbridled success' opening act.

The creators have imagined a truly modern 21st-century brand image inspired by the innovative spirit of Richard Wagner, by inventing a remarkable visual representation that rightly reflects on the peculiarity of the festival and the philosophy around the leitmotifs of Wagner, with the aid of digital technology. As Andrea Tóth, creative director of the agency, Geometry Group emphasised: “As the basis for the creative concept, we selected one of the most characteristic features of Wagner's oeuvre: the system of leitmotifs, in other words, guiding themes. We wanted to convert these leitmotifs into images, to transform the exceptional music into a modern and dynamic branding.” The special software created by audio-visual experts and creative engineers is based on sound analysis, which depicts each of the different instruments and instrument groups playing the leitmotifs as a line. These lines are constructed from different colours and vectors moving in different directions that interconnect on the screen in real time, thus creating the spectacular animation that forms the basis of the new brand identity.

2018 Audi A8 - INTERIOR
Luxury lounge: the interior Freedom is the defining design feature with a new luxury slant. This explains the A8’s resemblance to a lavish, spacious lounge. Compared to the predecessor model, it has grown substantially in length in both body versions. The range of equipment and materials is extensive, with every detail radiating superlative bespoke quality – from the perforation in the seat upholstery to the electrically opened and closed shutters on the air vents. The classiest seat in the new Audi flagship model is in the rear right – the optional relaxation seat in the A8 L that comes with four different adjustment options and a footrest. In this seat, the passenger can warm and massage the soles of their feet on a unit with multiple settings incorporated into the back of the front-passenger seat. The new comfort head restraints complete the experience. The rear passengers can also control an array of functions such as ambient lighting, the new HD Matrix reading lights and seat massage, plus make private phone calls, via a separate operating unit. The rear seat remote, with its OLED display as large as a smartphone, is a removable unit housed in the center armrest. Fingertip response: the controls The luxury sedan’s interior deliberately adopts a reductive design; the interior architecture is clear and with a strictly horizontal orientation. Audi carries its high quality standards into the digital age with a radically new operating concept. It does away with the familiar rotary pushbutton and touchpad of the predecessor model. The instrument panel is kept largely clear of buttons and switches. At its center is a 10.1-inch touchscreen display which, when off, blends almost invisibly into the high-gloss black surround thanks to its black-panel look. The user interface appears as soon as the car is opened. The driver controls the Infotainment system with fingertip control on the large display. They can use a second touchscreen display on the center tunnel console to access the air conditioning and comfort functions as well as make text inputs. When the driver activates a function in the upper or lower display, they hear and feel a click by way of confirmation. The glass-look operating buttons respond in the same way. The combination of acoustic and tactile feedback along with the use of common touch gestures such as swiping make the new MMI touch response especially safe, intuitive and quick to use. The A8 can also engage in intelligent conversation. The driver can activate an array of functions in the automobile using a new, natural form of voice control. Information on destinations and media is either available on board or is delivered from the cloud at LTE speed. The extensive Audi connect range also includes traffic sign recognition and hazard information – innovative car-to-X services that draw on the swarm intelligence of the Audi fleet. The extensively optimized navigation is another new feature: It is self-learning, based on the route just driven. This provides the driver with intelligent search suggestions. The map also incorporates highly detailed 3D models of major European cities. interior Features Floating image: the head-up display Top technology: the MMI navigation plus Car-to-X: traffic sign information and hazard information An array of other services: Audi connect Central access point: the new myAudi app Groundbreaking: navigation with lots of new features Digital access to the car: the Audi connect key 400 custom functions: personalization Virtual click: the MMI touch response operating system High hit rate: keyword search with hybrid concept Full HD: the Audi virtual cockpit Floating image: the head-up display A short action: the electric door lock Full sensory experience: the new luxury slant Indulgent comfort: the seats First-class travel: the relaxation seat Compact-format operating convenience: the rear seat remote As you choose: new phone solutions Clean, fresh air on board: the air quality package Exclusive top engine: the W12 The W12 will follow in 2018 in the new A8 L as the supreme, highly refined top engine version. With its two twin scroll turbochargers, it develops 430 kW (585 hp) from a displacement of 5,950 cm3. Its 800 Nm (590.0 lb-ft) of torque is available constantly between 1,300 and 5,000 rpm. Like the 4.0 TFSI, the twelve-cylinder engine features COD (cylinder on demand) technology. At low loads and engine speeds, it shuts down the left-hand cylinder bank to trim fuel consumption. The new Audi A8 and A8 L are being built at the Neckarsulm site and will appear on the German market in late fall 2017. The starting price for the A8 is EUR 90,600, with the A8 L starting at EUR 94,100. It is a primary task of the corporate communications department to maintain and build this identity to accord with and facilitate business objectives. It is typically visually manifested by way of branding and the use of trademarks. But also includes things like product design, advertising, public relations and the like. In general, this amounts to a corporate title, logo (logotype and/or logogram) and supporting devices commonly assembled within a set of guidelines. These guidelines govern how the identity is applied and would include approved colour palettes, typefaces, page layouts and other such... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mackintosh The Mackintosh or Macintosh (abbreviated as mac or mack) is a form of waterproof raincoat, first sold in 1824, made out of rubberised fabric. The Mackintosh is named after its Scottish inventor Charles Macintosh, though many writers add a letter k (this variant spelling "Mackintosh" is now standard). Although the Mackintosh style of coat has become generic, a genuine Mackintosh coat should be made from rubberised or rubber laminated material... History Charles Macintosh patented his invention for waterproof cloth in 1823 and the first Mackintosh coats were made in the family's textile factory, Charles Macintosh and Co. of Glasgow. In 1830 the company merged with the clothing company of Thomas Hancock in Manchester. Hancock had also been experimenting with rubber coated fabrics since 1819. Production of rubberised coats soon spread all over the UK. Every kind of coat was produced with rubberized material including riding coats and coats supplied to the British Army, British Railways and UK police forces. Early coats had problems with smell, stiffness, and a tendency to melt in hot weather, but Hancock further improved their waterproof fabrics, patenting a method for vulcanising rubber in 1843 which solved many of the problems. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the company continued to make waterproof clothing. In 1925 the company was taken over by Dunlop Rubber. Revival In the mid 1990s the Mackintosh brand owner, Traditional Weatherwear, was on the verge of closing its factory in Cumbernauld near Glasgow. Around the turn of the 21st century, senior staff members acquired the company and established the traditional rubberised Mackintosh coat as an upmarket brand in its own right. The company collaborated with leading fashion houses such as Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Liberty. The coats became particularly popular with Japanese women, and the company won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2000 for its success in international trade. In December 2003 the company name was formally changed to Mackintosh. In 2007 Mackintosh was bought by Tokyo firm Yagi Tsusho. With the backing of its parent company Mackintosh has continued to expand its reputation and marketing operations. In January 2011 the company opened its first fashion store in London...

How Do You Determine a Brand's Identity? (Q&A pt.3)
Continuing in our Q and A series from Yohana Rodriguez, marketing intern with Butler Branding, she asks Sean "what are some questions you ask to create a brand's identity?" It's important to understand what a brand is. A brand is people's gut feeling about a product, service or organization. Branding is the art and science of influencing their gut feeling. So when considering what a brand's "Identity" is, it's not just about the design - it's EVERYTHING. Questions to consider include: - What does the brand do? (these are the features) - What advantages do people get from what the brand does? (these are the benefits) - What are the underlying motivations that cause people to want to work with that brand? (these are the brand's values) - What is our voice / tone? - What is our culture? - How would we describe the brand as if it were a person?
