James Cameron's DEEPSEA CHALLENGE 3D

06:14
The World Science Festival joins the artists and explorers behind Cameron's Deep Sea Challenge 3D at the film's world premiere event at the American Museum of Natural History. There are many things that make the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE expedition exceptional, including the technology used to make the submersible and the scientific implications of the dive’s findings. More elementally, though, the dive itself was a feat of human curiosity, ingenuity, and bravery. Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for all the latest from WSF. JAMES CAMERON Deepsea Challenger Test Model BTS

02:48
ADI isn't just about creatures and monsters. In 2011, ADI was approached to build a cavitation test model for James Cameron as part of the prep for his historic 7-mile dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Working closely with Bruce Sutphen, ADI fabricated the test model that ultimately would be outfitted with instrumentation to record data during testing at the San Diego Naval Test Area. ADI's contribution was just a small part of the work that led to Cameron's successful dive on March 26, 2012. Not too shabby for a couple of monster makers.

Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue 116660 Luxury Watch – James Cameron Edition

08:48
http://www.crmjewelers.com/vip/ – Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue 116660 Luxury Watch – James Cameron Edition The Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue, also known as the Rolex Deep Blue Sea, is a special edition of the Rolex Sea-Dweller luxury watch. With a reference of 116660, the Deepsea D-Blue is also called the Rolex James Cameron Edition, named after the director of the Deep-sea thriller, “The Abyss,” back in 1989 (he also known for directing a myriad of blockbusters like The Terminator [1984], Aliens [1986], Titanic [1997] and Avatar [2009]). The Deepsea D-Blue high end watch was introduced by Rolex in 2014 to commemorate Jame Cameron's first solo human dive to the deepest point in the oceans of planet Earth, the Challenger Deep of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean (10,994 meters deep or 36,070 feet). During Cameron's Deepsea Challenge, a special “supercharged” 51-mm version of the Sea-Dweller Rolex designed was strapped to the manipulator arm of the submersible. Designed to withstand 12,000 meters of depth, the special Rolex Deepsea was able to withstand a crushing water pressure of eight tons per square inch, 1000 times greater than the atmospheric pressure at sea level! Even though the the Deepsea D-Blue edition is a new watch, it shares most of the same specifications as the regular and less expensive Rolex Seadweller 16600 mens watch with the black dial, including the extreme waterproof rating of 3,900 meters (12,800 feet) thanks to Rolex patented safety valve. The main differences between the regular Deepsea and the D-Blue can be found on the dial itself. If you look at the dial of the Rolex Deepsea D-Blue, you will notice that it fades from blue to black to symbolize the transition of color experienced during a deep sea dive. At lower depths, the ocean is void of any color whatsoever. The regular Sea-Dweller simply comes with a black dial. The word “DEEPSEA” on the dial of the new Sea-Dweller also has the same color as the submersible vehicle used by James Cameron to complete his incredible dive. The Price of the Deepseas There's quite a jump in price when you go from the regular Sea-Dweller to the Deepsea D-Blue dial edition. While a standard Deepsea Sea Dweller sells for an average of around $7,500 to $8,000 pre-owned, a preowned James Cameron Rolex is going to cost you around $11,500. That's quite a jump in price for a gradient dial and a neon name! While the colors of the D-Blue do stand out way more than the standard Deepsea, some people might not want to spend the extra money on the special edition. Wearing a Deepsea Rolex Both versions of the Deepsea are 44 millimeters in diameter. Even though this is the same case size as that of the Yacht-Master II, the case design of the Sea-Dweller models much taller, so unless you have a relatively larger wrist, you might not like the way the Deepsea sits on your arm. As far as the Watch Game goes, if you don't mind the size, the James Cameron edition of the Sea-Dweller is definitely going to turn some heads in your direction! The Rolex Deepsea D-Blue Edition as an Investment I'm not yet convinced that the D-Blue version of the Sea-Dweller will continue to enjoy a premium in price over it's black-dial cousin. Only time will tell. Will the price gap on both models shrink over time, bringing the price of the new Sea-Dweller lower? It's possible. Nevertheless, it is also possible that the D-Blue continues to appreciate proportionately over time, similarly to the Rolex Batman and the regular GMT II. It'll be interesting to see what really happens. So what do you think of the Rolex Deepsea Blue? Let me know by commenting below If you liked this video, remember to like and share it. REVIEW: Rolex DeepSea D-Blue James Cameron Edition Ref: 116660

10:11
This is a review of the James Cameron Deep Sea by Rolex. It's a large watch, but both it's blue gradient dial and rarity compared to the standard black model are what appealed to me in this case. It's kind of a Bugatti Veyron of watches; an older engine (since the SD43) in a completely over-engineered case to show what can be done, but doesn't have to be. Definitely one of Rolex' more playful watches. James Cameron: Control Under 8 Tons of Pressure at Challenger Deep

04:47
Explorer and filmmaker James Cameron pulled together a diverse team from all over the world to make the first attempt to dive to Challenger Deep in more than 50 years—the only solo dive ever. Here's a behind-the-scenes look from a key team member. http://info.opto22.com/deepsea-challenger It's a completely hostile world nearly 7 miles (10.9 km) beneath the ocean's surface. No light, temperatures just above freezing, and 16,000 lbs of pressure per square inch. That's Challenger Deep. Can anything live there? Can anyone survive the trip to find out? Chosen for its reliability and ability to communicate with a wide variety of other systems, the SNAP PAC System keeps the pilot of Deepsea Challenger informed about everything going on in the sub.

Scripps Institution of Oceanography Professor Bartlett has extensive experience studying the nature of microbial life in the most remote and extreme places on Earth: deep-oceanic trenches and other deep-sea settings, where most of the biological diversity exists on our planet. His research group pioneered genetic studies of these alien-like microbes, and were the first to identify genes regulated by pressures of thousands of pounds per square inch and genes that are required for high-pressure growth. Come hear what it was like to be on the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE Expedition, as well as about the research that Dr. Bartlett conducts at Scripps.

Q&A with James Cameron

24:31
On June 15, 2013, James Cameron brought his submersible DEEPSEA CHALLENGER to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution on Cape Cod. In 2012, Cameron used the sub to make the deepest solo dive on record--all the way to the deepest spot in the ocean, Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench. One year later, Cameron donated the sub to WHOI so that engineers here could study the technological breakthroughs he made in designing DEEPSEA CHALLENGER and apply them to future generations of manned and robotic underwater vehicles. At the event marking the formal handover of the sub to WHOI, Cameron took questions from the audience gathered on the dock.
