Structure, Tagging and Export to XML

16:07
With a Shakespeare play in mind we have a DTD that we can import into InDesign. This provides us with the TAGS. If we name our styles with those same tags, we can 'map the syles to the tags' very easlily. Unfortunately, InDesign does not provide us with the automation to map object styles, so we need to add those in to the structure.

Episode 16: Data Merging into the same Text Frame

10:57
From time to time, I hear the question: “how do I get a data merge to put the next records in the same textframe in a multiple record data merge”? Using nothing but data merge, there is no way to do this in one step, and this video will explain why. There are various ways to accomplish this task but it is not a turnkey solution from the data merge panel. SciELO Publishing Schema: An introduction to articles in XML

02:24
In the last few years SciELO has made a change in its editorial process to the journals that it indexes and publishes with the establishment of the SciELO Publishing Schema (SciELO PS) specification as a premise for publishing scholarly content in its database. This is one of the most important and significant changes towards the professionalization of scholarly journals from Brazil and, in the near future, to journals from the other national and thematic collections of the SciELO Network that share the SciELO methodology. The eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is a language that defines a group of rules for coding textual documents. It is largerly used in the representation of semi or non-structured data, apart from being intelligible for both machines and people. In 2013, in order to take greater advantage of data description capacities and align itself to other and international state of the art players of online scholarly content publishing, SciELO began developing the SciELO Publishing Schema specification -- a specification for research articles description based on the NISO JATS Publishing DTD standard version 1.0. Watch the video and find out more about the advantages of SciELO PS. O'Reilly Webcast: Stylish Structure- XML Publishing with Adobe InDesign

01:13:45
*Note: Audio quality not very clear Traditional XML publishing uses XSLT to make web pages and XSL-FO to make printable PDFs from XML sources. Book and magazine publishers are frustrated by the limited styling and "untweakable" output of the PDF process. Adobe InDesign offers a more flexible and typographically expressive alternative, but there are plenty of challenges in the process. This webcast looks at what's possible, what's feasible and what is problematic in using InDesign to publish XML. About Dorothy Hoskins Dorothy Hoskins is an XML evangelist, always learning new things to help her play with XML, but her true love is the development of processes that tie together various applications for publishing XML to both print and web. The new version of her book "XML Publishing with InDesign" (January 2013) includes content up to InDesign CS6. Currently Dorothy is assists publishers with XML workflows. Besides creating server-side XSLT for a global corporation's website, she has managed XML processes for FDA-regulated content in 17 languages for a medical devices company, and created publishing workflows for importing XML into Adobe's FrameMaker and InDesign products. She has presented numerous times on XML and XSL for the IDEAlliance conferences (XML 2010, XML-in-Practice 2008, XML 2007), Society for Technical Communication and SUNY/Higher Ed groups.

Hibernate - Mapping declaration(XML Tags) : Doctype : All XML mappings should declare the doctype shown. The actual DTD can be found at the URL above, in the directory hibernate-x.x.x/src/org/hibernate , or in hibernate3.jar. Hibernate will always look for the DTD in its classpath first. Part 7 How to add view in a magento 2 module

29:25
Hello welcome to Funky technologies, Its Part 7 of Fundamentals of Magento 2 development from scratch. Today we will learn how to add view on a module of magento 2 Dependency injection is a way to retrieve objects. In this process, classes receive objects they depend on as constructor arguments. In Magento 2, the object manager is responsible for creating all objects a class requires. Dependency injection (di) and object manager are complex topic. We will cover its details some other time as it is not our today's focus. Note: Please do not confuse dependency injection with module decency (which usually means a module is loaded after another module ) Today our goal is to render a string “Hello world” on a view page. So actually we are going to render HTTP response. In magento 2 its controller functionality to tells system that “render Http response”. Step I: As we know in controllers there is only one entry point which in execute() method. So in execute() method we need an instance of “Magento\Framework\View\Result\PageFactory” class, because in magento 2 “PageFactory” is class which is responsible to create page. So here we will use Dependency Injection. Means we have to add __construct() method here, how will override the __construct() method of controller’s base class. Step 2: Due to the overriding of __construct() function. Now we need call to patent’s __construct() function inside current controller’s construct() to make sure proper working of base class. So know we also have to inject “Magento\Framework\View\Result\PageFactory” class instance in our constructor due to the fact that base class’s __construct() takes this class’s instance in its constructor. Step 3: Now, its time to add layout xml file in module. Layout XML is a tool to build pages of magento 2. Simply we can say that Layout XML files tells Magento rendering system which elements should be on a page (topology). There are two main stages in working with the layout XML: Create the page content structure (create a logical page content structure) Render the structure (generate the HTML output) The whole idea of the layout XML is to define the logical page structure. Once all the layout XML instructions from all the modules have been processed, the result is rendered and sent to the browser for display. Location: app/code/[NameSpace]/[Module]/[area]/layout/*.xml Structure of layout xml file: Class: Class of the block object Template: Template of the block Name: Unique name which globally identify the name of block Layout Handles:- With layout handles or update handles Magento view knows which layout XML instructions to process for a given request. A “layout handle” is sort of like an event or notify for the Page Layout System. Certain handles “fire” on each page. Page-specific action handles Page-specific content is associated with a page, using the action handle specific to the request. Action handles is the combination of route, ActionPath and action name in lower case, separated by underscore(_) e.g. route_ActionPath_action.xml In our case it will be funky_path_helloworld.xml Step 4:- Now its time to create block class, A block is a class that calls a template and provides data to that template. Blocks often instantiate models, which then can query databases, and so on. Blocks is a complex topic, it is impossible to discuss, study all of its accepts in one tutorial even, we will discuss blocks in later videos. For you only have to understand that: Every block class extends a base class “Magento\Framework\View\Element\Template”. A block will render its HTML is its template property, we already sets is its template property to “blockcontent.phtml”. Every block Class must implements _prepareLayout() method. _prepareLayout() specific method that is executed when a block is created. It is often re-declared in a specific block and contains certain init operations. Blocks are located inside “Blocks” folder of a module. In our case it will be Funky/Hello/Block/BlockFile.php Step 5 Now in this step, we have to create a template (.phtml) file. Templates are snippets of phtml code that contain PHP elements, such as instructions, variables, and calls for class methods. Location: template files located inside view folder of a module. e.g module dir/view/area/file.phtml In our case it will be Funky/Hello/view/view/blockContent.phtml Step 6 Run/test your module. In Magento 2 an url composed of magento dir/frontName/actionPath/action So in our case to test module hit url: http://127.0.0.1/mage2/funky/path/HelloWorld Here: mage2: magento installation directory funky: frontName of the module. path: ActionPath connected to the Controller folder HelloWorld: php class of action or controller Thanks for watching Please give your feedback

How To Get A XML Product File From CJ Affiliate

01:15
http://www.wpallimport.com/ This tutorial video will show you how to get an XML file of affiliate products from CJ Affiliate, formerly Commission Junction. Getting this XML file will allow you to automatically import the affiliate products into WordPress and build product pages using WP All Import and a plugin like Woo Commerce. You can also just use a standard WordPress page to display your affiliate products. Using this process can get your store up and running with hundreds or even thousands of products in just a few minutes. A process that would have otherwise taken you hours to setup manually. Since these are affiliate products from CJ Affiliate, you do not have to stock any products. Your links would just forward to the affiliate's website and you earn a commission if the customer purchases anything.

How to configure the quantity of products to display

06:30
In this video you will learn how to configure the quantity of products to display in your products pages of your HelloTheme. The quantity of products to display in your product pages can be set from your Magento Admin-panel or from the theme xml file (catalog.xml). This depends if the section of the xml file that handles the quantity is commented or not, if it's commented so the values will be taken from the Admin-panel, if not, you can set your values directly from catalog.xml file. The section of catalog.xml to be used for this also depends if your category is Anchor or not. You can identify where is each section by title between label xxxxx /label before the category section starts, example: Category that's not an anchor category: label Catalog Category (Non-Anchor) /label Category that's an anchor category: label Catalog Category (Anchor) /label

12:35
In this episode of 5 THINGS, Michael gets you started with how to choose and prepare for an Asset Management solution! 1. What is Asset Management? 2. What are the differences between DAM, MAM, and PAM? 3. What options should I look for? 4. How do I plan for Asset Management? 5. How much does it cost? Complete transcript at http://5thingsseries.com/asset-management/ Closed Captioning available. What 5 Things do you want to know about? Let me know! Web: http://5thingsseries.com Facebook: http://facebook.com/5thingsseries Twitter: http://twitter.com/michaelkammes/ Episode Excerpt: 1. What is Asset Management? Let’s face it, asset management isn’t sexy. Very few people work their butts off in the hopes they can, one day, administer asset management. However, the need for asset management is only growing on a daily basis. Face it, we’re not deleting media – we’re only acquiring more of it, and we need to find it send it to more places. Wait, I’m getting a little ahead of myself here. What is asset management? In the media realm, it’s any system you use to tag, catalog, and track your bits and pieces of media and ancillary files. In fact, just using your Mac OS Finder or Windows Explorer is “asset management by OS”. Sure, it’s rudimentary and basic, but it is a way to track and find files. Specialized software to tag, find, and retrieve files from various storage locations is pretty common at this point. I mean, metadata is indexable and thus searchable. But…what If I were to tell you that GOOD asset management can talk to and work with multiple hardware and software solutions directly? That it can interface with non-media based technology, like business apps? That it can automate routine processes, like transcoding and media movement and outbound delivery? And the real good ones can find data not just by the terms you search for, but can extrapolate results based on context and similar search terms? …and this is why the sharpie marked hard drives or stack of post-its on your shelf just don’t cut it anymore. And this is also why we have the holy trinity of asset management – DAM, MAM, and PAM. 2. Whats the difference between MAM, DAM, and PAM? No doubt while looking into asset management you’ve heard these terms. We’re no strangers to acronyms in the Media and Entertainment space. DAM, MAM, and PAM. Ahh yes, the jokes practically write themselves. A safe bet is to use the term “DAM” – Digital Asset Management. This all-encompassing term covers the sub categories of MAM – Media Asset Management and PAM – Production Asset Management. Please forgive the gross oversimplification, but let’s think of it like a fast food burger joint. DAM covers the every process related to keeping the restaurant running and thriving. But perhaps we can get more granular that that. That’s where MAM and PAM come in. PAM covers the inbound shipments of the food, scheduling of the workers, how the workers interact with customers, and the QC of the service. MAM covers the actual food prep and usage…the nitty gritty low level food processes that you normally associate with the heart of a burger joint. However, those lines have now blurred – the same reason you may find a shift manager at the burger joint manning the deep fryer. MAM and PAM extensibility with other applications, commonly via watch folders, XML or even APIs, allow MAM and PAMs to branch out and create a Venn Diagram of ability. Also, from a pure marketing standpoint, no one wants to acronym their way out of a potential deal, so, again, the lines have blurred. In addition, many MAMs and PAMs are geared for different segments of the industry – or even other industries outside of the Media and Entertainment market. This creates different feature-sets, which blur the distinction between ‘AMs even further. In fact, if we look at one of the more specific DAMs, such as Avid MAM and Avid PAM – they actually flip the usage – PAM is used by the editors for creative purposes, while MAM handles much of the advanced automation and business processes. This is why I prefer to stick with the DAM moniker, and only differentiate when we’re talking about specific products that have MAM or PAM in their name (like Avid). However, some tech purists will want use to use MAM if just discussing the media and entertainment market. Psst, here’s the secret – if you’re not discussing a product with DAM, MAM, or PAM in its name, forget it! The lines have blurred to the point that it’s all asset management and the real challenge is….

Part 8 XML validation against XSD

What is an XSD file An XSD ( XML Schema Definition Language) file defines the structure of the XML file, i.e which elements in which order, how many times, with which attributes, how they are nested, etc. Without an XSD, an XML file is a relatively free set of elements and attributes. Steps to validate an XML file using XSD file. Step 1 : Create a new Console application. Name it Demo. Step 2 : Add a new XML Schema file to the project. Name it Student.xsd. Copy and paste the following XML. [?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?] [xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"] [xsd:element name="Students"] [xsd:complexType] [xsd:sequence] [xsd:element name="Student" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="4"] [xsd:complexType] [xsd:sequence] [xsd:element name="Name" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1"/] [xsd:element name="Gender" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1"/] [xsd:element name="TotalMarks" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1"/] [/xsd:sequence] [/xsd:complexType] [/xsd:element] [/xsd:sequence] [/xsd:complexType] [/xsd:element] [/xsd:schema] The above XSD specifies that 1. The root element must be Students 2. Students root element should contain atleast 1 Student element. More than 4 Student elements are not allowed. 3. Each Student element should contain the following 3 elements in the order specified. i) Name ii) Gender iii) TotalMarks Step 3: Add a new XML file to the project. Name it Data.xml. Copy and paste the following XML. [?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?] [Students] [Student] [Name]Mark[/Name] [Gender]Male[/Gender] [TotalMarks]800[/TotalMarks] [/Student] [Student] [Name]Rosy[/Name] [Gender]Female[/Gender] [TotalMarks]900[/TotalMarks] [/Student] [Student] [Name]Pam[/Name] [Gender]Female[/Gender] [TotalMarks]850[/TotalMarks] [/Student] [Student] [Name]John[/Name] [Gender]Male[/Gender] [TotalMarks]950[/TotalMarks] [/Student] [/Students] Step 4 : To validate Data.xml again Student.xsd file, copy and paste the following code in the Main() method. XmlSchemaSet schema = new XmlSchemaSet(); schema.Add("", @"C:\Demo\Demo\Student.xsd"); XDocument xmlDocument = XDocument.Load(@"C:\Demo\Demo\Data.xml"); bool validationErrors = false; xmlDocument.Validate(schema, (s, e) =] { Console.WriteLine(e.Message); validationErrors = true; }); if (validationErrors) { Console.WriteLine("Validation failed"); } else { Console.WriteLine("Validation succeeded"); } Note: Please include the following namespaces using System; using System.Linq; using System.Xml.Linq; using System.Xml.Schema; Step 5 : Run the application. Since the XML in Data.xml confirms to the XSD file, we get the message Validation succeeded. Step 6 : Remove [Name] element from one of the [student] elements in Data.xml file. Run the application again. Notice that the validation fails and we get the following error. The element 'Student' has invalid child element 'TotalMarks'. List of possible elements expected: 'Gender'. Validation failed
