"19For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 20When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. 21For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 22What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. 23For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world." (1 Corinthians 11) Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." ORTHODOX PRAYER BEFORE COMMUNION. Of Thy mystic suffer, O Son of God, accept me today as a communicant. For I will not speak of Thy mystery to Thine enemies, neither like Judas will I give Thee a kiss; but like the thief I will confess Thee : Remember me, O Lord, in Thy Kingdom.

It is one of the Christian Orthodox prayers before the Holy Eucharist, recited during every Divine Liturgy. On the Maundy Thursday it is sung many times; it is even in the place of the Cherubic hymn. Receive me today, O Son of God, as a partaker of Your Mystical Supper: for I will not betray Your Mysteries to Your enemies or give You a kiss as did Judas, but as the thief I confess You: Remember me, O Lord, in Your Kingdom

This is a sample prayer you can pray before your private altar of righteousness to fight any evil altar erected against your destiny. (Sample Prayer). We're using the holy communion (broken body and shed blood) as deliverance tool of defense but God's arrow of offense against enemies of progress, evil dedication, vows, ties, and evil altars or sacrifice. When everything fails blood and body dimension is key to guaranteed victory. We overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of testimony (the word of covenant).

Holy Communion is not just a member privilege the Catholic Church offers to Catholics. It is an expression of the pre-existing reality that the communicant believes the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Jesus. In this video, Fr. Mike thoroughly and passionately explains why the Church teaches that non-Catholics cannot receive Communion. Fr. Mike's hope is that through his explanation, you will see how the Church's teaching on this matter expresses its desire for all Christians to be one. Fr. A follow up question from our previous episode on "Preparing for Holy Communion" last week, this question focuses more attention on the actual Mystery (or Sacrament) of Holy Confession and what our attitude should while we are confessing to a Priest. The Mystery of Confession is expressed as a communion between the one who is confessing and God, once we have opened our heart to Him.

Prayers need not be long. It is better to keep all PRAYERS short and sweet. The important thing in every way of praying is getting in touch with God. http://holycommunion.co/ The following prayers will help you get ready for the moment of communion. Pray this before Communion. Jesus, soon I will be receiving You. I cannot wait! I want You very much to come to me! Jesus, even though I do not deserve to have You live in me, I know You want to come. Please make me ready to welcome You into my heart. Jesus, I am sorry for anything I did to hurt you or other people. I promise that I will try to be kind and loving. I love you. Jesus, I know you are God. I thank You for coming to visit me. Please stay with me always. Be a friend in my heart. Jesus, I give You my heart. I love You very much. This is all I have to offer You. Jesus, I believe that I will receive You in Holy Communion. It is really You who will come into my heart and soul I must get ready now. Jesus, I want to open my heart and soul to receive You. I want You to fill me with Your life. I want to live with You forever.

Holy Communion The Eucharist is at the center of Orthodox Christianity. In practice, it is the partaking of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in the midst of the Divine Liturgy with the rest of the church. The bread and wine are believed to become the genuine Body and Blood of the Christ Jesus through the operation of the Holy Spirit. The Eastern Orthodox Church has never described exactly how this occurs, or gone into the detail that the Roman Catholic Church has in the West. The doctrine of transubstantiation was formulated after the Great Schism took place, and the Orthodox churches have never formally affirmed or denied it, preferring to state simply that it is a "Mystery". Communion is given only to baptized, Chrismated Orthodox Christians who have prepared by fasting, prayer, and confession. The priest will administer the Gifts with a spoon directly into the recipient's mouth from the chalice. From baptism young infants and children are carried to the chalice to receive Holy Communio

From the beginning of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Church, the Eucharist is the central purpose of worship. Why? Dave, explains the meaning behind it. The Didache(c. 90 A.D.) But concerning the Eucharist, after this fashion give ye thanks. First, concerning the cup. We thank thee, our Father, for the holy vine, David thy Son, which thou hast made known unto us through Jesus Christ thy Son; to thee be the glory for ever. And concerning the broken bread. We thank thee, our Father, for the life and knowledge which thou hast made known unto us through Jesus thy Son; to thee be the glory for ever. As this broken bread was once scattered on the mountains, and after it had been brought together became one, so may thy Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth unto thy kingdom; for thine is the glory, and the power, through Jesus Christ, for ever. And let none eat or drink of your Eucharist but such as have been baptized into the name of the Lord, for of a truth the Lord hath said concerning this, Give not that which is holy unto dogs. ( 9:1-5) On the Lord's Day of the Lord gather together, break bread and give thanks, after confessing your transgressions SO THAT YOUR SACRIFICE MAY BE PURE. Let no one who has a quarrel with his neighbor join you until he is reconciled by the Lord: "In every place and time let there be OFFERED TO ME A CLEAN SACRIFICE. For I am Great King," says the Lord, "and My name is wonderful among the Gentiles." (14:1-2) St. Ignatius of Antioch (c. 110 A.D.) I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life. I desire the Bread of God, WHICH IS THE FLESH OF JESUS CHRIST, who was of the seed of David; and for drink I DESIRE HIS BLOOD, which is love incorruptible. (Letter to the Romans 7:3) Take care, then, to use one Eucharist, so that whatever you do, you do according to God: FOR THERE IS ONE FLESH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and one cup IN THE UNION OF HIS BLOOD; one ALTAR, as there is one bishop with the presbytery… (Letter to the Philadelphians 4:1) They [i.e. the Gnostics] abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that THE EUCHARIST IS THE FLESH OF OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. (Letter to Smyrnians 7:1) St. Justin the Martyr (c. 100 - 165 A.D.) We call this food Eucharist; and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [Baptism], and is thereby living as Christ has enjoined. For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by Him, AND BY THE CHANGE OF WHICH our blood and flesh is nourished, IS BOTH THE FLESH AND THE BLOOD OF THAT INCARNATED JESUS. (First Apology, 66) Moreover, as I said before, concerning the sacrifices which you at that time offered, God speaks through Malachi [1:10-12]…It is of the SACRIFICES OFFERED TO HIM IN EVERY PLACE BY US, the Gentiles, that is, OF THE BREAD OF THE EUCHARIST AND LIKEWISE OF THE CUP OF THE EUCHARIST, that He speaks at that time; and He says that we glorify His name, while you profane it. (Dialogue with Trypho, 41)

When it comes to Holy Communion, there are many different opinions about how often, when, how and is what spiritual condition we should receive. This week’s “Ask Father” sermon returns again to topic of Holy Communion, this time more with a more functional perspective. But if Holy Communion is left to a Sunday only experience, then instead of life-giving and life-saving, it can become condemning and a source of death. If we want life then we will live the entire Orthodox Life of prayer, fasting, reading the Holy Scriptures and being in a state of constant preparedness for Holy Communion, as Saint Basil said, every Sunday, and every Wednesday and every other day it is offered. It will be the center of life.

BustedHalo.com's fantastic introduction to the Sacraments series. Join Fr. Dave Dwyer, CSP, as he explains the do's and don'ts and rights and wrongs of receiving Communion... Should Catholics receive communion on the hand or on the tongue? And how exactly are we supposed to do that reverently? Is there any other acceptable response besides "Amen?" ...and what does "amen" mean anyway? These questions and more are answered in this edition of "Sacraments 101," a web video series geared for those who'd like an introduction or refresher course on these important, tangible Catholic experiences of God. The Church calls the Eucharist the "summit and source of our faith," so it would seem pretty important to understand the basics about receiving this sacrament when we go to Mass.
