How can schools be improved? Less lecturing, more doing. Discover your passions through project-based learning. Bailey is a junior at Lake Forest High School who’s passion is theatre and film. She has been an honor roll student, but grew up with a reading and auditory processing disability. Bailey would always excel in a project based learning environment rather than lecture based classes. She never really fit into the traditional lecture and test based education system. She didn’t realize until her freshman year in New Media, that being a visual learner gave her a creative and artistic advantage. She could finally leave her school frustrations behind and communicate through telling visual stories This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. This is a self documentary about the idea that it is more important to create art rather than being considered an artist. The video was to show that once you have produced the piece of art your role as an artist is no longer valid. This piece was originally create as part of an installation at SUNY New Paltz.

"There is a big value in the process rather than the product," says Shannon Glisan, an early childhood independent contract trainer and consultant. "Anthony's learning persistence, and he's learning that failure is not a dead end -- that when one thing doesn't work, you try something new. Regardless of what happens in the future, that trait will stay with him." As Anthony's mother, and as an early childhood professional, Shannon understands the value of offering guidance to her four-year-old, but she also says that it's very important to step back and allow him the opportunity to grapple with things on his own. "When he gets to school and he faces new challenges," says Shannon, "his confidence is going to tell him 'This is not a big deal -- I can do this.'" Watch our new video to see how Shannon provides a supportive environment for Anthony to create, reason, and problem-solve on his own.

#weightloss #motivation #process STOP! There is no single product you can purchase that will take you there. That will help you get to the body or health you want. There's no magic pill. Trust me, I've looked. ... What I've come to learn family is that we have to become the product that takes us to the next level, that heals our heart and our minds, that enables us to live well despite the chaos around us. ... You got it in you just like I had it in me. But the only way to bring it out is by going through! Lets connect! As you approach New Year's, here are some thoughts on the types of goals you set for yourself. Transcript: With the new year coming up, you’re probably setting new goals. So, I thought I would share two types of goals. Product goals versus process goals. Product goals focus on the destination while process goals focus on the journey. Product goals tend to be short-term but process goals tend to be long-term. Product goals are project-oriented while process goals are designed to build habits. Product goals stick to firm deadlines while process goals stick to consistent routines. Product goals define success by the completion of great work. By contrast, process goals define success as growth in one’s skills and abilities. So, what does this look like? If your goal involves running, a product goal might be finishing a marathon while a process goal might be committing to run for 45 minutes every day. If you’re a writer, a product goal might be publishing a novel while a process goal might be a daily habit of 500 words per day. Neither approach is wrong. Both product goals and process goals are important for success. We need to get finish projects and build lasting habits.

Broad range of products and small single batches often push many lines to their economic limit. Why? Because the complex change-over processes use up more and more valuable production time. Would you like to get this time back and use it productively? LineXpress makes this possible. The system pushes product change-overs on a line to its maximum efficiency. How? By simply automating essential processes and directing the entire change-over process as a whole. More: https://www.krones.com/en/automated-product-change-over-with-linexpress.php

Open Instructional Design: OER Process over Product Lindsey Brandt-Bennett, Curriculum Developer - Montana State University Northern Caleb Hutchins, Instructional Designer - Montana State University Northern Jason Geer, Instructional Designer - Montana State University Northern We usually think about OERs from a “product consumption” perspective, but the OER creation process itself also presents a valuable opportunity for instructor reflection and development. In this session, instructional and curriculum design staff from MSU-Northern will share their experience hosting an OER contest as a way to encourage instructors to implement culturally responsive pedagogy in the classroom. Not only were the OERs impressive as end products, but the process of creating them proved an effective and cost-efficient way to build a community of practice and engage faculty in personalized professional development.

When do we learn control? When is the transition made where we 100% know we can do something? This is why we practice so many times, over and over, so that we rid ourselves of doubt, and that, in turn, is parkour: knowing your movement and abilities. This was made after the adult class in Milwaukee. I've recently decided to change the way I train so that I always add at least one thing before what I want to work on. I've also had many training partners ask why there aren't any training videos out there. My answer? - Because they are boring, but that doesn't mean no one wants to see them. This is why it is thee unseen. Music is from bensound.com

‘Goals are for losers.’ Scott Adams. To much focus on the outcome, the eventual mastery that we might one day achieve is a boring and disempowering way to go through life hoping that one day far off we might achieve our goals and only then will we be happy or fulfilled. Goals are only useful in so far as they help us define the process. Mastery is the goal (or product). Habits are the process. Instead our focus is on today, this hour, this moment and this habit. Good daily habits mean winning every day which is psychologically a plus, we feed our sense of self-efficacy, we build our self-confidence, we define our boundaries around our habits and develop our sense of self-respect. Our ‘goal’ becomes simple; to nail our habits, today. We know that if we do this day in day out (see Consistency over Intensity) then we are moving towards mastery. As our new habits become old habits (between 1-2 months of daily application) they become who we are, not something we do. This is a big difference. Old habits are much easier to maintain, they require less will power than instigating new habits. Once habits are in place maintenance takes over and our will power is liberated to begin creating and implementing a new habit. As we craft our masterpiece days, based around the good habits we feel will serve us the most in achieving our life goals, our lives become smoother, more balanced, more productive and impactful, more fun and liberating, more present and still. Consistent masterpiece days, one after the other, builds our courage and confidence feeding our ability to commit to living in truth and authenticity with who we truly are Focus on the process, not the product and your life will transform. #ONEnewHabit2016

One-liner: Process over product: we shouldn't be focused on the 'something more,' but instead the process of getting there. What we can do now. Description: We wait, for the next text, the next paycheck, the next moment in our lives. It seems that everyone is instilled with this feeling of something more: only if I was admitted to a good college, only if I landed that amazing job. Against this yearning for future that doesn't exist, I emphasize process over product. I speak about the way that my time in debate, an activity structured by wins and losses, of the feeling of something more, has propelled me to emphasize process over product: something now over something more.
