Finding Life Beyond Earth - Where Are We in the Universe?? Space Documentary
Since the beginning of civilization, humanity has wondered whether we are alone in the universe. As NASA has explored our solar system and beyond, it has developed increasingly sophisticated tools to address this fundamental question. Within our solar system, NASA’s missions have searched for signs of both ancient and current life, especially on Mars and soon, Jupiter’s moon Europa. Beyond our solar system, missions, such as Kepler and TESS, are revealing thousands of planets orbiting other stars. The explosion of knowledge of planets orbiting other stars, called exoplanets, and the results of decades of research on signatures of life - what scientists call biosignatures - have encouraged NASA to address, in a scientifically rigorous way, whether humanity is alone. Beyond searching for evidence of just microbial life, NASA now is exploring ways to search for life advanced enough to create technology.

Binary and Multiple Stars: Crash Course Astronomy #34
Double stars are stars that appear to be near each other in the sky, but if they’re gravitationally bound together we call them binary stars. Many stars are actually part of binary or multiple systems. If they are close enough together they can actually touch other, merging into one peanut-shaped star. In some close binaries matter can flow from one star to the other, changing the way it ages. If one star is a white dwarf, this can cause periodic explosions, and possibly even lead to blowing up the entire star. How do Stars form? | #aumsum
Stars are like huge balls of fire that emit a tremendous amount of heat and light. Stars don't form in a few seconds, minutes or hours. Star formation process is so slow that it can take millions of years. A star begins its life inside vast molecular clouds of dust and gas. These molecular clouds are also known as nebulae or dark nebulae. They mostly contain hydrogen and helium molecules along with some other particles. Normally, these molecular clouds are cold and stable. However, a nearby supernova explosion or galactic collision may send a shockwave or tremendous amount of energy through a molecular cloud. Now, in the molecular cloud, this energy causes a gravitational disturbance due to which it begins to collapse on itself under its own gravity, causing hydrogen and helium to clump together and thus, increasing the mass in the center of the cloud. This increase in mass, increases the gravitational pull, thus attracting even more molecules and particles from the surrounding. As more and more molecules and particles collapse or fall into the center of the cloud, the center begins to heat up. This heated center or heated core is known as a protostar. A protostar continues to pull more molecules and gets hotter and hotter until the temperature and pressure reach to such an extent that hydrogen nuclei begin to fuse with one another producing helium and releasing heat, light and radiation. This process called nuclear fusion. When this happens, the inward force of gravity is exactly balanced by the outward force created by heat and radiation. These inward and outward forces maintain balance and thus, a star is born. Also, don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Meet the Stars (Part 1)–Astronomy Song about stars-for Kids
Hello! It’s “Meet the Stars!” (Part 1) Join Vincent as he takes us on a tour of the constellations to meet all of his new star friends. In this video, you will meet lots of different types of stars, and learn a little about each one. While we can’t meet them all, since there are billions and billions of them, this sampling of stars covers a diverse range of colors, temperatures and sizes. We chose the stars for part one, by picking stars that represent several of the different types of stars in our known universe. Everything from white dwarf stars to yellow and red hypergiants and red and blue supergiants, binary stars, pulsars, and much more. There are 13 stars featured in this song, including: The Sun, Toliman (aka Alpha Centauri B), Trappist, Teide 1, Arcturus (aka Alpha Boötis), Bellatrix (aka Gamma Orionis), Betelgeuse (aka Alpha Orionis), Rigel )aka Beta Orionis), Crab Pulsar, Procyon B, Sirius (ak Alpha Canis Majoris or the Dog Star), Rho Cassieopiae and be sure to watch to the very end to meet our very special guest… UY Scuti all the way from the Scutum constellation! The stars are from several different constellations across our night sky including: Taurus, Cassiopeia, Boötes, Centaurus, Aquarius, Orion, Canis Minor, Canis Major, and Scutum. http://store.cdbaby.com/cd/inaworld113 Lyrics: Let’s go meet the stars In our galaxy Some are very far But still bright enough to see Let’s go meet the stars There are many different kinds They will blow your mind Let’s go and meet the stars We’ll travel very far Out through our universe I wonder who we’ll meet first Will we meet main sequence stars? – the type of star that most stars are Will we meet Binary stars? – circling each other how bizarre Will we meet a neutron star? one that spins, called a pulsar! Or Will we meet a supergiant!? I really love Science! I’m A Yellow dwarf and I’m your Sun I’m the Center of our solar system I’m a Main sequence Star, a type that is very common I’m Made of Hydrogen that converts to Helium I’m an orange dwarf star, my name is Toliman From the Alpha Centauri triple star system - the closest system to your sun I’m a binary star with a yellow dwarf, Alpha Centauri A With red dwarf Proxima Centauri close by, maybe you’ll visit someday My name is Trappist, from the Aquarius Constellation I’m a red dwarf star, cooler and dimmer than your sun I have at least 7 orbiting planets, 3 that could have life on them Which means you might have neighbors, you would call them Aliens I’m a brown dwarf star, my name is Teide 1 From the Pleiades cluster in the Taurus constellation I’m a small ball of gas, without enough mass I failed to ignite, So I’m hard to see at night Who else is out There? I’m Arcturus – A Red Giant Star From the Boötes constellation, I’ve used up my hydrogen core As I age, I’ll expand and shed my outer layers away Leaving a white dwarf star core and a nebula cloud display A Blue/white Giant Star, Bellatrix is my name In the Orion Constellation, I burn hot with bluish flames Blue stars burn hottest and are the brightest in the sky We use up all our energy quick and then we say goodbye A Red Supergiant From Orion - I’m Betelgeuse I’m one of the rarest and largest types of star in the universe I’m building pressure and unstable, almost ready to Explode Eventually I’ll super Nova and could become a black hole! I’m A Blue/White Super Giant my name is Rigel The Brightest star in Orion, the constellation where I dwell I’m still a young star with extreme luminosity One of the hottest, and rarest types of star in the galaxy Who Else is out there? I’m the Crab Pulsar, a spinning neutron star I’m left over from a supernova of a giant star’s collapsed core You can find me in Taurus, I’m very small, dense, and unique I rotate 30 times per second, so it looks, to you, like I blink I’m a white dwarf star named Procyon B I’m in the constellation Canis Minor, and I’m a star that’s binary I used to be a large star that used up all it’s fuel energy So I shed my outer layers, and all that’s left is dense little me I’m A Binary Star, My name is Sirius I’m the brightest star you see at night, but there’s actually 2 of us Sirius A, a white main sequence star, Sirius B a white dwarf star You’ll find us in Canis Major, circling around each other Rho Cassiopeiae – I’m the rarest type of star I’m a Yellow Hypergiant – the biggest stars by far I’m very far away but 500 thousand times brighter than your Sun Although I’m very rare, I’m not the only one…. We’ve only scratched the surface There are billions of stars you see But now we’ve met a few And understand their diversity Let’s keep on Exploring Our wondrous universe Keep discovering new stars Which star will you meet first? UY Scuti is my name and I’m the largest known star ©February 2019 by Goes to Eleven Media. All Rights reserved.

The Biggest Stars In The Universe
Science & Reason on Facebook: http://tinyurl.com/ScienceReason Star Size Comparison: The biggest/largest known stars in the Universe. --- Please subscribe to Science & Reason: • http://www.youtube.com/Best0fScience • http://www.youtube.com/ScienceMagazine • http://www.youtube.com/ScienceTV • http://www.youtube.com/FFreeThinker --- VY Canis Majoris (VY CMa) is a red hypergiant star located in the constellation Canis Major. With a size of 2600 solar radii, it is the largest known star and also one of the most luminous known. It is located about 1.5 kiloparsecs (4.6×1016 km) or about 4,900 light years away from Earth. Unlike most stars, which occur in either binary or multiple star systems, VY CMa is a single star. It is categorized as a semiregular variable and has an estimated period of 6,275,081 days, or just under 17,200 years. Antares is a red supergiant star in the Milky Way galaxy and the sixteenth brightest star in the nighttime sky (sometimes listed as fifteenth brightest, if the two brighter components of the Capella quadruple star system are counted as one star). Along with Aldebaran, Spica, and Regulus it is one of the four brightest stars near the ecliptic. Antares is a variable star, whose apparent magnitude varies from +0.9 to +1.8. The Pistol Star is a blue hypergiant and is one of the most luminous known stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. It is one of many massive young stars in the Quintuplet cluster in the Galactic Center region. The star owes its name to the shape of the Pistol Nebula, which it illuminates. It is located approximately 25,000 light years from Earth in the direction of Sagittarius. It would be visible to the naked eye as a fourth magnitude star, if it were not for the interstellar dust that completely hides it from view in visible light. Rigel (β Ori / β Orionis / Beta Orionis) is the brightest star in the constellation Orion and the sixth brightest star in the sky, with visual magnitude 0.18. Although it has the Bayer designation "beta", it is almost always brighter than Alpha Orionis (Betelgeuse). Aldebaran (α Tau, α Tauri, Alpha Tauri) is an orange giant star located about 65 light years away in the zodiac constellation of Taurus. With an average apparent magnitude of 0.87 it is the brightest star in the constellation and is one of the brightest stars in the nighttime sky. The name Aldebaran is Arabic (الدبران al-dabarān) and translates literally as "the follower", presumably because this bright star appears to follow the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters star cluster in the night sky. This star is also called the Bull's Eye because of its striking orange color and its location in the bull's head shaped asterism. NASA's Pioneer 10 spacecraft, which flew by Jupiter in 1973, is currently traveling in the direction and will reach it in about two million years. Arcturus (α Boo / α Boötis / Alpha Boötis) is the brightest star in the constellation Boötes. With a visual magnitude of −0.05, it is also the third brightest star in the night sky, after Sirius and Canopus. It is, however, fainter than the combined light of the two main components of Alpha Centauri, which are too close together for the eye to resolve as separate sources of light, making Arcturus appear to be the fourth brightest. It is the second brightest star visible from northern latitudes and the brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere. The star is in the Local Interstellar Cloud. Pollux (β Gem / β Geminorum / Beta Geminorum) is an orange giant star approximately 34 light-years from the Earth in the constellation of Gemini (the Twins). Pollux is the brightest star in the constellation, brighter than Castor (Alpha Geminorum). As of 2006, Pollux was confirmed to have an extrasolar planet orbiting it. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name Sirius is derived from the Ancient Greek Σείριος. The star has the Bayer designation α Canis Majoris (α CMa, or Alpha Canis Majoris). What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary star system, consisting of a white main sequence star of spectral type A1V, termed Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion of spectral type DA2, termed Sirius B. The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. The Sun has a diameter of about 1,392,000 kilometres (865,000 mi) (about 109 Earths), and by itself accounts for about 99.86% of the Solar System's mass; the remainder consists of the planets (including Earth), asteroids, meteoroids, comets, and dust in orbit. About three-fourths of the Sun's mass consists of hydrogen, while most of the rest is helium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Largest_stars --- CREDITS Animations: morn1415, NASA, ESO, Hubblecast Editing: http://www.youtube.com/Best0fScience .

Planet Earth compared to other planets and stars in size.
Just how big is our planet Earth compared to other planets and stars? And yes, I know that Uranus is not mentioned. It's about size in the known galaxy in general, not about mentioning all the planets in our solarsystem. Video is borrowed from "The Science Channel" and is probably made by someone named Morn1415. Background music: "Dragonfly" of Tim Utfeld. Want to know more? Go to The Science Channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/ScienceMagazine?email=share_youtube_user And If I would have started the title of the video with the words "mind blowing" then I would have had a million views in just a couple of months.

NASA Captured A Black Hole Destroying Star!
For the very first time NASA captured a black hole while it was ripping apart a star. In 2005, Astronomers saw a energy jet coming from 150 Million light-years away. It was moving at one-fourth the speed of light. They studied it for more than a decade and concluded that it is coming from a super-massive Black Hole which is 20 million times bigger than our sun. As black Hole was eating the star, this energy burst was being erupted. We've just captured a Black Hole! Orion - a brief tour
Orion is a classic constellation. From ancient egypt to the ancient greeks to the vikings - Orion has been both a point of reference and of myth. When you next look up at the night sky in autumn and winter, see if you cannot find Orion - and try and grasp what beuty and wonders you are really looking at. It is so much more than tiny spekcs of twinkling lights. In this video I'm trying to give a brief description of some of what you would be looking at. It is my hope that it will spark some interrest. The night sky is so much more interresting when you know something about what you're looking at. Stars, Galaxies and the Milky Way | Kids Videos
Learn all about the stars, galaxies and the milky way! SUBSCRIBE ▶ http://bit.ly/Creators365Sub Our solar system has the sun at the center of it, along with the planets and their moons, comets and asteroids. However, the Sun is not the only existing star in the universe, there are several more. The stars are part of galaxies, which are formed by clusters of billions of stars, dust and gas. On a clear moonless night, we can see up to two thousand stars in the sky, and all these are part of the galaxy where the solar system is from, it is called the Milky Way. Galaxies have different sizes and shapes, and each type has a different name, such as elliptical, irregular or spiral (such as our own Milky Way). Classification of Stars: Spectral Analysis and the H-R Diagram
So we have made it through the dark ages, and are now a few hundred million years into the lifetime of the universe. There are plenty of stars all over the place, but are they all the same? How can we classify stars? Let's go through the basics of the Harvard System, and then take a look at something called a Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. Jupiter | Beyond the Stars
http://video.wvbs.org Come explore the King of the Solar System, Jupiter. Even when Jupiter is at its farthest distance from Earth (an impressive 600 million miles), its enormous size allows it to still be one of the brightest objects in the night sky. As such a bright object, Jupiter has a long history of being observed, but it wasn’t until the invention of the telescope that Jupiter’s true, stunning beauty and intriguing design became known. With its multitude of orbiting moons, the Jupiter system resembles a miniature Solar System. Yet the same physical laws that maintain Jupiter’s complex system, also govern the larger arrangement of our Solar System and ultimately the Cosmos as a whole.
Uranus & Neptune | Beyond the Stars
http://video.wvbs.org Come explore the Outer Gas Giants, Uranus and Neptune. Each planet presents some unique characteristics as we consider their roles in our Solar System. These strange worlds provide intriguing examples of planetary dynamics and have served well in their role of proving the Intelligent Design of our Cosmos.

Voyager Journey to the Stars
Cosmic Journeys examines the great promise of the Voyager mission and where it will lead us in our grand ambition to move out beyond our home planet. The two Voyager spacecraft are part of an ancient quest to push beyond our boundaries... to see what lies beyond the horizon. Now tens of billions of kilometers from Earth, two spacecraft are streaking out into the void. What will we learn about the Galaxy, the Universe, and ourselves from Voyager's epic Journey to the stars? December 19, 1972... the splashdown of the Apollo 17 crew capsule marked the end of the golden age of manned spaceflight. The Mercury.... Gemini... and Apollo programs had proven that we could send people into space... To orbit the Earth.... Fly out beyond our planet... Then land on the moon and walk among its ancient crater. The collective will to send people beyond our planet faded in times of economic uncertainty, war, and shifting priorities. And yet, just five years after Apollo ended, scientists launched a new vision that was just as profound and even more far-reaching. It didn't all go smoothly. Early computer problems threatened to doom Voyager 2. Then its radio receiver failed, forcing engineers to use a back up. Now, after more than three and a half decades of successful operations, the twin spacecraft are sending back information on their flight into interstellar space. Along the way, they have revealed a solar system rich beyond our imagining. The journey was made possible by a rare alignment of the planets, a configuration that occurs only once every 176 years. That enabled the craft to go from planet to planet, accelerating as they entered the gravitational field of one, then flying out to the next. The Voyagers carried a battery of scientific equipment to collect data on the unknown worlds in their path. That included a pair of vidicom cameras, and a data transfer rate slower than a dialup modem.

Formation of Earth and Solar System - How Did the Solar System Form Documentary
Our Solar System, and all other star systems, form from a collapsing nebula. Often called stellar nurseries, nebulae are the birthplace of stars. They are made up of mostly hydrogen but also contain other matter like gases, dust, ice and rock. The gravity of the nebula pulls this matter into the centre, and the nebula experiences a gravitational collapse. If the compression raises the core temperature enough to reach thermonuclear fusion, the centre mass generates a protostar. This process takes about 10 million years.
