The Celtic Sea

04:22
Filmed at one of beaches near St Ives, Cornwall, UK. I love this sea and visit often as it is a short walk from where I live. Please excuse the filming I'm rubbish at filming anything. The drawing of the Sea Horse at the beginning is one of mine, I think I stick to the sketchbook LOL. Hope you enjoy this beautiful beach and wonderful view over the Celtic Sea. Manannan The Celtic God of the Sea I am Manannan, Lord of the rushing waters My horses create the deep currents of the waters My darkness brings the world into mystery My light is the radiance of the king. I am the royal form of the god Lirr, who is my origin and my true nature As Manannan, I run the royal court and create beauty As MacLirr, I bring all things back to the source As Lirr, I am the radiant light of origin, the beginning of heaven, earth, and sea. My palace is white marble, My throne of emerald and mother of pearl My robes are deep green and gold. My crown is of emeralds With my queen Fand, I rule the seas, and the Fair Folk, our people Our artists create beauty, Our musicians create music that dances with the waters Our architects have made an undersea paradise. Once we had links with human beings, and our worlds were united But people began to doubt. And then to turn against us. So we and the other Fair Folk separated from the human world And now we are seen only at a great distance When our traditionalists wish to dance on the earth And play on the waves. But as their king, I have responsibility for their safety And the human world has proved untrustworthy Seeking to steal our treasures and our women Seeking power over us and to grasp things Which must remain beyond their reach. So I have severed the bonds between the worlds And only the worthy can pass over They may call upon me and open their hearts to me And if they are worthy, I will send a messenger to guide them here. Our people live in deep green light The light of growing things In forests and at seashores In deep waters, with pearls and buried treasure Dark to the outside world but radiant within.

Celtic Sea Salt vs. Himalayan Salt: Which Is Better?

03:57
This video is about the debate of celtic sea salt vs. himalayan salt. In my opinion, they are both a MUCH better replacement for your regular table salt. They just have slightly different nutrient profiles, but their health benefits are quite similar and switching it up it probably your best bet. Manannán mac Lir Celtic Sea God at Gortmore Viewpoint

03:05
Manannán mac Lir Celtic Sea God Gortmore Viewpoint is located right on the Bishop's Road, Limavady by the Binevenagh Loop which is part of the Causeway Coastal Route; place to visit when it comes to Ireland (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k4dDegBR2I). The view extends to Donegal and Islay and Jura islands on the Scottish west coast. Families and individuals can easily hold picnics there and enjoy their day, if the weather permits. Visitors will also be able to view the sculpture of Manannan Mac Lir, a sea God originating from this area. At Gortmore Viewpoint the outline of Binevenagh Mountain and Lough Foyle is quite visible. You will also be able to catch a glimpse of the Magilligan Special Area of Conservation as well as the classic land slips below the cliff line. This path also crosses through the town of Gortmore and continues on through an open field before reaching a small headland. Then, one of the largest sand dune systems in these islands that forms part of Magilligan Special Area of Conservation Binevenagh Mountain towers over Limavady Borough, giving breathtaking views of Lough Foyle, Inishowen and the northern coastline. It is also home to a wide variety of birds including the peregrine falcon. The Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) received its protected area status in 2006. The area's significance is due to its distinct balance of natural, man-made and cultural heritage. Along the extent of the northern boundary of the AONB are some of the widest dune systems and finest stretches of beach in Ireland. Beyond the beaches, the coastal waters around Binevenagh AONB hold a wide variety of marine habitats, a primary food source to many popular sea faring birds. This area also provides a haven for a variety of wild bird population. The Bishop's Road winds along the crest of Binevenagh, offering spectacular views all the way. Some even say that this wild place is where the last wolf was slain in Ireland. Along the road, about a mile away, we can also see the Tamlaghtard Church. The Church was commissioned by Frederick and finished by his architect, Michael Shanahan around 1787. The Statue of Manannán mac Lir The Celtic God of the sea, after whom the Isle of Man is named, is one of five life-size sculptures highlighting the myths and legends of the Roe Valley's cultural heritage. The statue made headlines in 2015 when it suddenly disappeared from Binevenagh Mountain and went missing for an entire month. The monument was created by sculptor John Sutton, known for his work on the popular HBO hit TV series Game Of Thrones (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYQXeJm4D2o), had became a popular tourist attraction. The monument featured the figure of Manannan Mac Lir standing in a boat's prow at the top of the mountain. The nine feet monument was later found by a group of ramblers dumped on the mountainside just a few hundred meters from its original spot after a land and air search involving PSNI officers had failed to locate it. The statue was badly damaged and whoever cut it down left a wooden cross with the words 'You shall have no other gods before me' in its place. The artist spent the next six months painstakingly creating a replacement sculpture to be put in the original's place. “It took too much effort because you can see where they tried to saw it off at the beard, the neck and the arms,” said Mr. Sutton. “They obviously went to some effort, but they shot themselves in the foot. I don’t think they realised there would be such a backlash. Everybody was talking about it. They obviously didn’t think it through.” The SDLP's Gerry Mullan said that sculpture was vital for local tourism, "The replacement quickly attracted a large crowd of spectators. Some people might say this is a huge waste of money, but I think it is a vital investment in tourism for the local area. The original one was found with chunks missing from its head and was too badly damaged to be put back. But I am hoping we can use it in the local arts centre for educational purposes. The new one has been reinforced, but I hope those involved in damaging the first one don't do the same again. Tourism is the only real sustainable industry we have in the northwest and this piece of art is vital to help boost that industry. We even had a bus tour come to see the sculpture almost the minute it went back up again." Local people living near Lough Foyle believe Manannán's spirit is released during fierce storms and some even remark “Manannán is angry today”. It is believed that he inhabits the offshore sandbanks between Inishtrahull Sound and Magilligan waters. Historians believe that Mannin Bay was named after him and he is thought to be an ancestor of the Conmhaícne Mara, the people for whom Connemara is named. According to local folklore, one day Manannán’s daughter was caught in a storm while boating in Kilkieran Bay, so to rescue her from the danger she was in, he conjured up Mann Island

These elements exist in minute concentrations but work with other minerals to maintain optimal function in your body. Trace minerals you may find in sea salt include phosphorus, bromine, boron, zinc, iron, manganese, copper and silicon. Your body uses some of these minerals, such as iron and zinc, to make enzymes involved in metabolism. Although phosphorus typically occurs in trace amounts in sea salt, it is actually an essential macro-mineral. Your body uses it as a structural component of bones, teeth and cell membranes, as well as for energy production. Major, Non-Essential Minerals: With about 9.7 milligrams per quarter-teaspoon of sea salt, sulfur is the third most common mineral in sea salt, says Western Analysis, Inc.. Even though it is not an essential mineral, sulfur plays an important role in your immune system and the detoxification of your body. Every cell in your body contains it, and it helps give structure to two amino acids. According to researcher Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D., sulfur is the eighth most common element in the human body and is important for normal metabolism and heart health. Minor Essential Macro-Minerals: Calcium and magnesium play essential roles in several chemical reactions in your body. Magnesium, for example, intervenes in energy production and the synthesis of RNA and DNA. Calcium helps give structure to your bones and teeth, in addition to regulating your heartbeat and normal muscle and nerve function. Both are present in sea salt at the approximate concentrations of 1.5 milligrams and 5.2 milligrams per 1/4 teaspoon, respectively. Major Essential Macro-Minerals: Sodium and chloride are the most abundant ions in sea salt, representing about 33 and 50.9 percent of total minerals, respectively. They are both essential substances your body needs for normal function and nutrient absorption. Chloride specifically helps with muscle and nerve function. Sodium also acts in muscle function and helps regulate your blood volume and pressure. Potassium is another important macro-mineral that works with chloride to help regulate acid levels in your body. A quarter-teaspoon of Celtic sea salt contains 601.25 milligrams of chloride, 460 milligrams of sodium and 2.7 milligrams of potassium. Selkie´s Songs - Voices Of The Sea | Celtic Music

42:58
Selkie´s Songs - Voices Of The Sea (Album) Image: Selkie by Ginger Kelly Music: Voices of Xendra (Celtic Songs) 01 Ushag Veg Ruy 03 Bonny Portmore 03 Kerry Dance 04 Greensleeves 05 Flower of Magherally 07 Danny Boy 08 Siúil a Rúin 09 The Montains of Mourne Amorous, affectionate and affable, Selkies are the hidden gems of sea mythology. Gentle souls who prefer dancing in the moonlight over luring sailors to their death, Selkies are often overlooked by mythological enthusiasts for the more enthralling forms of mermaids or sirens. Yet Selkies play a prominent role in the mythology of Scandinavia, Scotland and Ireland. Their myths are romantic tragedies, a common theme for land/sea romances, however it is the Selkies who suffer rather than their human lovers and spouses. While the tales of Selkies always begin with a warm and peaceful "once upon a time", there are no true happy ending for the tales of Selkies—someone always gets his/her heart broken. The mythology of selkies is similar to that of the Japanese swan maidens, though historically it appears that the tales of the swan maidens predate the western tradition. Selkies can be either men or women, but are seals while in the water. What differentiates them from mermaids (aside from the choice of animal) is that they undergo a full body transformation upon coming to shore: they do not merely transform seal tails into human legs, but rather completely shapeshift from the sea animals into a human. This is accomplished by shedding their seal-skin when they come to land. Selkies are predominately mythological creatures from Irish, Scottish (particularly in Orkney and the Shetland Islands) and Faroese folklore, however there is a similar tradition in Iceland as well. * This Channel has no monetary or commercial intentions. Scientists in England are using two self-directed water vehicles to explore the animal and plant life of the Celtic Sea. The Celtic Sea is a body of water off the southern coast of Ireland. The area is known for its exceptional sea life. Scientists want to know why marine animals are so attracted to this part of the Atlantic Ocean. One of the research vehicles is powered by batteries. It collects information for the National Oceanography Center in Southampton, England, and the World Wildlife Fund. The vehicle’s low energy requirements permit it to stay afloat for up to 30 days. Reports of what it finds in the Celtic Sea are sent by satellite. Stephen Woodward is an engineer who helped design the craft. He says the vehicle has equipment that can detect small organisms called zooplankton and fish. He says other devices measure water currents and other features of sea life. There is also a device that creates a two-dimensional map of the sea. Another research vehicle is powered by solar panels and a wind turbine. It can stay afloat for months. The robotic vehicle sends information about biodiversity hotspots. A biodiversity hotspot is an area of an ocean that has a lot of plant and animal life activity. Robotic ocean vehicles greatly reduce the cost of exploring the seas with manned laboratories. Scientists have more time to examine the collected information. The research will help them understand the needs of the Celtic Sea in order to protect and manage its future.

What Kind of Salt should We Consume? Celtic Sea Salt

03:25
BLOG: https://blog.watershed.net/2012/05/14/what-kind-of-salt-you-consume-will-determine-your-health-profile/ Commercial Table salt is refined by drying at an extremely high heat (sometimes in excess of 1,000 degrees!) which destroys beneficial substances in salt. Commercial Table salt is typically 97.5-99.9% sodium chloride, whereas a quality sea salt is only about 87% sodium chloride. This is because unrefined sea salt contains a rich content of important trace minerals. Table salt is full of additives, fluoride, anti-caking agents, excessive amounts of potassium iodide and other poisons. Many versions of commercial salt also contain aluminum derivatives, which are known to be highly toxic. These additives can cause discoloration in salt, so bleaching agents are then used to restore the desirable white color. If it is White and pours like sand DON't BUY IT - even if it says 'sea salt". It has been heated and processed. Unrefined sea salt, naturally harvested and dried in the sun, contains a wealth of trace minerals and electrolytes. Our bodies only need small amounts of these nutrients, but they are still absolutely vital for a variety of functions in the body. In fact, they are key players in enzyme production as well as immune system, adrenal and thyroid function. Chysauster Iron Age Village & the Celtic Sea

02:24
Chysauster village was built around 100AD by the Celts in West Penwith, Cornwall, it is believed. Although concomitant with the Roman settlement in Britain, West Penwith remained independent of the Romans, albeit with a little trade. Chysauster is now stewarded by English Heritage along with 'Carn Euny', a nearby older settlement. There are believed to be around 40 such settlements in the Peninsula and the Isles of Scilly. The Celtic Sea, as seen here around Pendeen, merges with the Atlantic Ocean.
