I was going to add something about the use of feet but I see someone (a lot of someones) got here before me!! I'll just add one thing. It's not a case of using one or the other because one is superior to the other. It's a question of audience. If you put something on Youtube I'm guessing you want to reach the biggest audience. If you use feet and inches you restrict your audience to the USA. If you want to widen your audience you need metres. As the film is made by an American it's fair enough that they use feet and inches but just by adding metres maybe in brackets you open up your audience. It makes sense. Also by using both you avoid the criticism often aimed at Americans that they know little of the world beyond their own borders and care even less. Finally, whether you think in metric or imperial these depths are hard to imagine. The figures become meaningless. The images of the buildings and the mountains were just as good at conveying the concepts.

A bathtub that is 685x685 miles and say 3 feet deep is only a small portion of the pacific ocean, let alone all the water on the oceans of the planet. Get your facts right. Just as a fact the distance from Los Angeles to Honolulu is 2,500 miles, and you could have a bathtub 2500x2500 miles on the pacific ocean and it would still not cover half of it.
